Does anyone know why most of gas stations in NY does not have the locking teeth on the hose so you dont have to hold down the level when pumping gas. I hope i am clear on this....

Yeah, you're clear. I've often wondered myself. It's like a great gift when you find one that does have it.

Maybe they think we wouldn't know how to work it. :donno:

Anyway.... even with a pump that DOES have the "locking teeth" (BTW great phrase that you came up with), a lot of the time I still do it the old-fashioned way because it pumps faster that way.

(Ever notice that?)

Not always but almost always.
I didnt know they made any that didn't lock.

Yeah I hold it to make it go faster too, but only during the winter. If it's nice outside I'm in no hurry.
I always thought that in some areas, fuel nozzles don't have the locking teeth because it -forces- you to stand there while filling up (in case it overflows).

Yes, even using the locking teeth, you can still stand next to it (and not have to hold onto the stupid thing the entire time) but I'm not surprised at what people do these days anymore.
But i only noticed those teethless pumps in NY, most other states have them, maybe we dont deserve to wash out windshields during fueling...:)

I'm the opposite -- sometimes I avoid holding it in the winter, because that metal is so COLD!!!

I guess they don't have that problem in Wisconsin..... :D

lol well the smart people wear gloves so it doesn't matter :ikno: :D
I haven't seen locking pumps in Toronto for years. What really p|sses me off are slow pumps that take forever to fill. I'm surprised they haven't introduced advertising on the LCD screens of new pumps to give your eyeballs something to do in the meantime.

I just stare at the gauge pump screen to see the amount of money trickling out of my pocket. :squint:
It gives me more time to think about whether I shouldn't really better use the bathroom before moving on.....
I haven't seen locking pumps in Toronto for a long time either. I always wondered why they got rid of them? They were pretty handy, especially during the nasty winters we usually get here. I want them back!
