Has your AC failed? Report it here!

AC failure is a known (but rare) problem with the TSX, but it mostly seems to happen with the 2004s.

If you have had your AC compressor go out, post here and include the following:
Year of your TSX
Approximate miles when AC failed (if you remember)
And include any other info you feel relevant

The more data we can gather about this, the better!

2007, ac works only at above 2.5k rpm. Want it working at idle, what to do?
One of the most common air conditioning problems is improper operation. If your air conditioner is on, be sure to close your home's windows and outside doors. For room air conditioners, isolate the room or a group of connected rooms as much as possible from the rest of your home. I am in the process of ordering parts for my AC system replacement and have my mechanic do it for me.

Can you make sure I have everything needed?

1 - Four Seasons 58886 Compressor w/ Clutch
1 - Four Seasons 39219 Expansion Valve
1 - Four Seasons 83029 Receiver Dryer
1 - Denso 4770652 Condenser

Anything else I may be missing? I need to order these as well?

What about Pag Oil?

I want to make sure if I do this, I do this right.

Thanks!

ugh, my AC stopped working last week, on the way back from a trip to Canada.

Everything was great and 'cool', until I was a few hundred miles away from home on the highway. I noticed it started to get warmer in the interior. I thought maybe it was getting warmer as it was sunny, around 1PM with the sun moving around its highest point in the sky. So I lowered the temperature, eventually all the way to "LO" with warm air starting to come out the vents. :( 205k miles

Got home and put some AC manifold gauges on the AC lines, and they show around 140psi low and high pressure sides with the compressor off obviously. So there is refrigerant and no leak. Fans turn on when I press the 'Auto' button+'Lo' temperature setting. Swapped the top "snowflake" relay on the box with another one, no go. Read the A/C clutch circuit procedure on the FSM and put a jumper wire on the pin slot 1 and pin slot 2 on the "snowflake" relay. No compressor movement.

So I am assuming and hoping the clutch mechanism parts is no good anymore. I never heard any sound prior to noticing the AC no longer working, and I can easily spin the front of the compressor with out feeling anything rough.

Planning on getting the refrigerant sucked out, replacing compressor and condenser. The fins on my condenser are pretty beat up from road debris, and the reciever/dryer should be replaced when opening the system. Might have to add more parts if the compressor oil has debris or any other evidence shows up.

My 06 TSX 5AT with +145,000 miles A/C started to have intermittent warm/cool/cold spells depending on how fast you were driving. The driver side was a little warmer compared to passenger side. Acura said the O-rings were bad and I was leaking refrigerant causing low pressure. They replace the O-rings and recharged the system for $290. Waiting to see if that was a fix or just a band aid.

The symptom does sound like refrigerant leak.
HVAC System NOT working at all. Help!

When I push the Auto button it seems like the AC fan kicks on but then will turn right off. The blower will not turn on at all. Even when I try to manually control the AC/Heat, the blower will not come on and there is no air flow from the vents. I have an Autel Maxidas Scanner/Programmer and no DTC's are present. I was able to run the HVAC Built in system self Diagnostic and it returned a DTC Code "N" on the clock display which refers to "A Problem in the Blower Motor Circuit". In the repair manual the first step is to clear any DTC's then check the fuses. Well I checked the 2 fuses it references and they are OK. Question is since my scanner is not picking up any DTC's, how do I clear the Code "N" that is in the HVAC system?

Thanks!

***UPDATE****

After 2 weeks, the A/C started with the same warm/cool/cold intermittent problem like before. Back to Acura and they said the compressor was bad and pushing 4X above normal pressure and it was forcing Freon past the O-rings. They already charged me $290 and was going to credit me that price on the repair:

- $1300 aftermarket compressor (after $290 subtracted out)
- $2400 Acura compressor (after $290 subtracted out)

Decided to purchase a compressor with clutch on eBay for $130 and try my luck at a local shop when it gets in.

I bought a $155 UAC compressor that was mentioned on this thread. No way I was paying for the original part. I plan on installing it in a few days. Also found this screen filter on Rockauto https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog...air+conditioning,a/c+refrigerant+filter,15479 that is supposed to go over the suction line entrance on the compressor (I think?). It is supposed to protect it from debris. It has very little information and is not in stock there, so I ordered it from CarID.com (the only other 'known' place I could find it at). It looks almost identical to another product I was looking at first, on the Autozone website, "AirSept Compressor Guard" but it only ships from Autozone with more than one week estimated delivery. Hope it fits easily and works well.

Those prices are hhmmm, high :( . Are they doing anything else? I'm starting to get annoyed at AC problems and work. I wish a proper fix just involved replacing a compressor or part + topping off with refrigerant:| Goodluck to all driving in this summer weather.

I have the compressor, condenser+reciever, and radiator installed on the car again. All new.

When I drained the oil from my old compressor to measure the quantity inside (turned out to be 1 oz), it came out looking clean, but with a small amount of sediment and debris.:( So now I am ordering a new expansion valve and evaporator. Not looking forward to being stuck under the dash :(

I don't know what to do about the hoses, I want to get the car ready and I fear I am wasting the desiccant element inside the receiver by opening the system every time I am removing an AC component.
have a 2007, just bought it compressor clutch shot. installing a new one. no clue when it crapped out. but has 130,000 on the clock.
So far, the $130 eBay compressor+clutch is working after +2 weeks after install. Cost me another $500 for labor+parts to install on top of the $290 I wasted at Acura when they replaced the O-ring that didn't work. It cost me a little under $1000 get get everything back to normal (it has been 95-103 in ABQ in June).

Compressor Siezed

Replaced compressor and condenser with remanned units, now I can't get the a/c compressor clutch to engage
2008 6 speed with 89k it went out soon as i registered it at DMV out of the parking lot! lol mfer...paid $1000 with new OEM compressor and condensor and vacuumed system.

It has 109k now. knock on wood thats the only thing that went out. Ive only done regular oil changes and changed the plugs at 100k. I love this car!!
06 automatic with 126k miles. Compressor went out June 2018 at 120k. Compressor and condenser replaced with Honda parts by independent shop for $1,087. (The start of an avalanche: Rack & Pinion, starter and alternator now failed and replaced.)
06 6speed, bought the car in february off craigslist ($6300) and didnt notice that the ac was out when i bought it with around 134k. figured i would drive around all summer without ac until the pulley on the ac compressor finally seized and my car was having a charging problem from the belt not spinning quick enough. It seized in the fall once the weather was decent enough to ride without ac. i sweated all summer without ac for no reason other than being cheap. replaced the compressor with oem reman by a honda specific shop for $600. been over a year and have 180k with no other issues.
2005 with 144k compressor just blew, very difficult to turn. Up Until now no work had been done. Wishing they would have totaled it when it was in a wreck last year.
2006 Acura TSX with 142k and some change. AC compressor kicks on but only blows cold air when around 1500rpm or higher. When it is blowing cold air only the passenger said blows cold. Heater works fine and the pressure in the system seems ok as well. still no fix to this issue. I think it might be the compressor considering it only blows cold air when accelerating.
