wow, gotta love cali. i wonder if it is part of their smog certification(s) to look for other mods such as the TB spacer and bypass.

Once I find another place to go, I will let you all know if they mention the TB spacer and coolant bypass.
I couldn't believe he mentioned the TB mods. I tried to explain to him that they don't have an effect on anything smog related at all and all they do is smooth the air flow and cool the air, but he told me it wasn't allowed. I'm hoping the next shop won't care.wow, gotta love cali. i wonder if it is part of their smog certification(s) to look for other mods such as the TB spacer and bypass.

The tech that looked at my car was asian :squint: he was a by-the-books asian I guess :laugh:you should come down to asian town.. all they care about is money.. they'll never car about the mods you did.. as long as it passes smog..
There's still a visual inspection
Yeah it does, but I didn't even get to the tailpipe test. I failed visual.
So let me get this straight .. you wont pass inspection if you have CAI, Exhaust ? .. or even if motor is heavily modified ? ( turbo/ supercharged )Yeah it does, but I didn't even get to the tailpipe test. I failed visual.
Yep. Anything that isn't stock under the hood will cause you to fail the visual inspection. You have to have CARB approved modifications. So let me get this straight .. you wont pass inspection if you have CAI, Exhaust ? .. or even if motor is heavily modified ? ( turbo/ supercharged )

If your parts aren't CARB approved, then you have to take them off. I have the new CARB number for my intake and header, so I will be fine with those now. I'm hoping the next shop I go to won't hassle me on the TB spacer and TB coolant bypass.Oh man that really sucks ! .. In NY you pass with ANYTHING lol ..I mean even CEL lol .. I have full exhaust no cat, headers CAI .. and got a CEL on went to the guy paid $37 and got my inspection sticker .. I love NY for that haha .. they are really hard on you guys out there ..
SO every time you guys have to remove you intake .. and exhaust im assuming .. do they put the car on a life also ? to check and see if you have a car ? or u guys get away with just chaning the mufflers ?
Here in NY they just plug it up .. if it has no codes you pass .. if you have codes and you know teh shop they can bypass them and still pass you ..
