Heads up for Cali guys with Icebox or DC header

Tried to get my 06 smogged and failed the visual because the stickers I have for my icebox and DC header have old numbers that only cover 2004s.
Here are the numbers you should have:
Icebox: EO: D-637-2
DC header: EO: D-370-14
Note: the header is only for 2004-2007. If you have a 2008 and a DC header, you either have to hope they change the code by then and include 08s, or you will have to put your stock header back on if you fail visual. The icebox covers 04-08 so everyone is covered.

Also, I don't know if the guy was just a dick or not (I won't be going back to him even now that I have my new codes for the intake and header) but he told me that he wouldn't allow the TB spacer and the TB coolant bypass mod that I did. Once I find another place to go, I will let you all know if they mention the TB spacer and coolant bypass.

wow, gotta love cali. i wonder if it is part of their smog certification(s) to look for other mods such as the TB spacer and bypass.

I couldn't believe he mentioned the TB mods. I tried to explain to him that they don't have an effect on anything smog related at all and all they do is smooth the air flow and cool the air, but he told me it wasn't allowed. I'm hoping the next shop won't care.

Thanks for the info.

Nothing is allowed in Cali, nothing..

Smog hookups is the only way:ninja:
^ seriously we got pulled over for anything =/
The guy was being a dick. Period. Don't ever go back to him.

I went to a local Vietnamese guy when my brother needed a smog check. Drove it up to the test machine, never even popped the hood, collected my $50, went on my way. But then again he was a good friend of a family member.
you should come down to asian town.. all they care about is money.. they'll never car about the mods you did.. as long as it passes smog..

The tech that looked at my car was asian :squint: he was a by-the-books asian I guess
Yeah it does, but I didn't even get to the tailpipe test. I failed visual.
So let me get this straight .. you wont pass inspection if you have CAI, Exhaust ? .. or even if motor is heavily modified ? ( turbo/ supercharged )

Yep. Anything that isn't stock under the hood will cause you to fail the visual inspection. You have to have CARB approved modifications.

Oh man that really sucks ! .. In NY you pass with ANYTHING lol ..I mean even CEL lol .. I have full exhaust no cat, headers CAI .. and got a CEL on went to the guy paid $37 and got my inspection sticker .. I love NY for that haha .. they are really hard on you guys out there ..

SO every time you guys have to remove you intake .. and exhaust im assuming .. do they put the car on a life also ? to check and see if you have a car ? or u guys get away with just chaning the mufflers ?

Here in NY they just plug it up .. if it has no codes you pass .. if you have codes and you know teh shop they can bypass them and still pass you ..
Darn and I thought AirCare here was lame!
Did away with sniffer and got stricter on visual it seems.

If your parts aren't CARB approved, then you have to take them off. I have the new CARB number for my intake and header, so I will be fine with those now. I'm hoping the next shop I go to won't hassle me on the TB spacer and TB coolant bypass.
They don't care about catbacks, or at least the guy didnt say anything. It's just emissions related stuff and apparently anything under the hood cause the TB spacer doesnt change emissions at all lol.
damn.

over here as long as it passes the emissions levels that are coming out the end of the exhaust pipe we are fine.

no visual rubbish.
I wish that's how it was here. California is a stupid over-regulated state though. We have harsher laws for cars and guns compared to the other states.
