- when i turn off my car my key is stuck even when my gear in park

*i took the gear box out because i thought that was the issue but it was n


-need to put my car in neutral to start it
- i do not hit my break first before change all my gear ( that new )
Could it be i need a new shift cable ?

idk what else to do this is my only car and my daily and this car only has 91000 mile on it but did a engine swap of a 123000 mile on it because the previous person who had this car blown the engine

Sounds like the parking neural switch, release the lever try playing with it, reset any codes or read any transmission codes if you don’t have a scanner disconnect the battery

Sounds like your cable adjustment is off or the cable is stretched. Disconnect the cable end from the transmission, put the shifter in park and see if you can remove the key. Then manually shift the transmission to park and see if the cable end lines up with the end of the lever or if it’s off.
If I recall correctly, the range switch has a slight adjustment to it too if your cable is not the issue.
