Welcome, slee -- not to be confused with sjlee!

(Be ready for some confusion, I think.) :D

I've only visited Toronto, never car-shopped there. Acura 2000 is a dealership that seems to have gotten the best notices, although I understand it's a little bit out of town. North Toronto Acura has gotten mixed notices, mostly good I think. Other places, unfortunately, have seemed to be not so good -- but I have no idea how accurate that is; it's based only on what people have posted on the TSX sites.

About price: For some reason people haven't been talking too much lately about TSX prices in Canada, at least not that I've seen. A few months ago, I remember seeing that the range in the Toronto area was $39K-$40K. (Hey, all you fellow U.S. people, don't pass out -- this is Canadian dollars.) 39 was considered a GREAT deal, and anything under 40 was pretty good. It's quite possible that the story has changed since then -- not just because of possible changes about TSX dealing but also because of currency fluctuations.

Also we better explain that in Canada, "base model" means something different from what it means "down south." In the U.S., it means "without Nav," but up there, Nav isn't even available. (Yet.) So, what he's talking about is just without mats, fog lights, wheel locks etc., not "non-Nav."

What kind of prices are the dealers asking for now, anyway?

thx for your thoughts larchmont....(btw...i am a "she")

that's pretty much what the dealership was telling me...i would be looking at about $40-$41K to spend on a "non-Navi" model, with taxes, freight, pdi.

i am also looking to trade in my ancient honda civic si....it's really old though so i'm not sure how much i should be expecting to get for the trade...it's a '93 model with...
are you ready?....309,000 km on it....yup! that's right.

:egg on face:

(Hey, admins -- is there a smiley for that?) :D

I can't tell you how many times I've made that gender error.
And I imagine that I'm a "liberal." :D

About the price: If you're not desperate to get the car, you might want to try offering 39 and standing with that for a while, and seeing if they bite.

About the trade-in: With that kind of mileage -- that's about 190,000 miles, right? -- be ready to be happy with anything that you can get. It's very hard to really know about that kind of thing, but if I were you and a dealer offered me even $1000 (U.S.), I'd consider myself fortunate. It's possible that dealers might not want it at all. But don't just take it from me, because I really don't know. Please let us know what happens about this too.

Anybody else have any idea what that Civic might be worth?

Wow Larch...you're 2 for 2 :D

Welcome slee :wavey:

I paid MSRP, so I'm sure you'll get a better deal than that.

My stats are a lot worse than that. :sport62:

About the prices: Remember that those prices are Canadian dollars. I don't know exactly what MSRP is in Canada, but I do think those figures are below MSRP.

Yeah, why don't we just make Canada the 51st state and the hell with it? :D

re: Buying a TSX in Toronto

Hi Slee,

Being from Toronto and having recently purchased a 2004 TSX (within the last 2 weeks)... I can tell you that I got mine for around 39K - 40K on the road... I added stock fogs to it as well.

Might I suggest going to Acura North Toronto and seeing a salesperson by the name of Alan Lee... I have read mixed reviews of this dealership however my experiences there have been very positive. I have now bought 3 cars from there without any issues...

So far, the car has been amazing and I have no regrets purchasing the vehicle... Now all I need to do is buy the SNHOND3 cable in order to hook up my iPod... :rollsmile

Cheers and Happy Shopping!
