I am having some clunking on the passenger side of my car (2007). I believe it is the lower control arm bushings so I ordered new lower control arms online. I will be doing the install this week but have a few questions for all you pro mechanics.

I am not replacing my ball joint just my LCA.

1. So I have a new lca. Does the ball joint come off with the lca when I remove it or does it stay on the car?

2. Do I have to use a ball joint separator tool to remove the lca from the ball joint?

3. How would I press in the ball joint to the lca if needed?

I have done lots of searching on this but really have not found an easy answer. Please provide steps if you can. Thanks for all the help in advance :)

Thanks for the reply Grat. So when I remove the bolt from the ball joint, the lower control arm will be able to separate from the ball joint without using the ball joint separator tool?
all depends still...sometime ball joint gets seized up on lca...when i replaced both my front lca...on both side, ball joint were seize on lca and i had to rent a ball joint sseperator...some say to BANG on it but didnt want too screw up the ball joint...but give it a shot ball joint might just seperate while taking lca off.

but ill tell u one of my complications when i did the lca...my passenger side compliance bushing was torn up so bad that i couldnt take out the screw because the screw and sleeve in the compliance bushing was seized up together....was a P.I.T.A

but good luck

Currently having the same problem. The rubber boot of the ball joint is shredded and the metal sleeve is stuck the bolt so I cant remove the bolt. What did you end up doing?
