I got the cheapo knockoff version of the S2k CR on mine and I loves it. $25 shipped.

I have the Moddiction Anvil 2 bought a while back from a GB. Excellent solid quality, much heavier and since it's countersunk, it sat much lower than OEM. Price is also lower than Maven. See my post on the comparison against OEM. And I also get a lot of compliment

Is the shifter shaft (the small part visible right under the A/T stock shift knob) endurable enough to clamp a vice grip on it tight?

Yes it is. ARC knob looks great (I have a burnt Ti ball), but machined maven looks better. I switch between both, Maven in the summer and ARC in the winter, if I ever get the chance to drive my car.
