So i' m interested in buying a 2006 acura tsx. My dream would be to find a pearl white, ebony interior with 6mt. Dont really care for the navi ( as i can get discount at best buy). Anyway am having such a hard time finding my dream one. The closest one i have found had everything except it was automatic.

I searched but didn't really find anything whats the difference performance wise automatic vs 6mt. I know it feels much slower but how much slower is it really?

Also I would like to hear you guy's opinion to go with the pwp above or the only 2006 6mt's I have found carbon grey pearl, with 6mt... So i guess it would be no 6mt vs no pearl white, and ebony interior combo?

get a manual. I wish I could get one. Automatic really blows to be honest. I raced a guy from work with an rsx-s and he only won because he had a manual. He could shift faster than me, so when I had to shift into second, he pulled away a little. If I had a manual, I would have been faster. Not to mention I would have a lot more fun driving =/ Don't give up on your search for a manual. Seriously, give up on pearl white before giving up on a manual.

well if your looking for a fun / enjoyable car to mod and enjoy then get the MT. the AT is nice as a daily driver but really loses out on the performance end when you want to "push" the car.

I'm not gonna say that it sucks but if you know how to drive a "standard" transmission then you really shouldnt even be asking which typr of tranny to get.

Get the MT and you'll be glad you did

Simply go into a dealership, Acura or Honda. Tell them what you are looking for. They buy and sell cars everyday, Im sure they wil come across your dream car. You may not car for Navigation but trust me, the car looks way classier with the Stock Navi!

Yea I really enjoy the feeling of manual and love that its 6 speed, maybe i will hold off as i hear as the 60 months lease are soon to be up. i've just always wanted a pw tsx with 6mt and I do plan on modding maybe i/h/e/reflash. I dont know why it ever crossed my mind not to get 6mt, i guess b/c everything i kept finding is At. Thanks guys.

I bought 1 with AT for 2 reasons; 1-I was absolutely sick of chunky shifting in my old Civic which also had a short shifter and gave me pain in the elbow. 2- Majority of the TSX's are automatic because supposedly its a luxury sedan. :(

As for performance, AT loses ~15WHP compared to manual. Also less gears. Just like tsxtasy I once came closer to beating a RSX-S, but the weight and tranny held me back....

I was in the same situation as you..looking for months with no luck..i finally gave up and settled on a couple carbon greys in 6mt, one with nav and one without..then on my way to the dealer to check it out, the salesman called me and asked if i was still interested in white..upon arrival i found the perfect one and didn't hesitate to put my deposit down.. apparently a few members on here were a few minutes behind me ready to come see the car but it was sold :D

Manual all the way. I have driven both, and to me, it feels like a completely different car with the 6 speed.

I would also DEFINATELY recommend the factory navigation. It's so much nicer than the basic radio. If I could do it over again, I would absolutely find a 6 speed with the navi.

Somewhere I read that the auto is about a full second slower than the auto to 60. It wouldn't surprise me. After driving the manual and then the auto before buying, I took the auto back early and said "order me a manual." Autos are a waste of kinetic energy. My 6spd is just as luxurious as an auto.

Don't 1st gen have these sport shifters or something alike. You could pretty much have your manual without a clutch.
Its nice to be able to shift the automatic on your own, but its really not the same as the stick shift. The shifts aren't all that quick either. Its a lot better than the old Chrysler autostick though....that automatic SUCKED!

Alright, let me just point out that automatic TSX doesnt need to be floored for it to downshift when u drive on the freeway and need to climb a hill.... I HATED that about 4 speed automatic corollas and other cars. If you need 1 for commuting, auto gearbox wont drive u mad like many other gearboxes do. Its kind of always in the right gear. This is the only thing that keeps me satisfied with it.

It's not really a manual. When you shift the vehicle, you're asking the computer to shift, but it may decide not to shift (e.g., it's not safe to shift).

A real manual transmission has no computer to shift for you. You can mis-shift and blow a rod.

The TSX's manual transmission is one of the best available. I don't mind driving my car at all, even in traffic.

Also, the TSX's manual's transmission case is made out of magnesium to save weight, which helps with the performance (less weight to lug around).

Well clearly you are interested in this car for race purposes. Then yes MT is the way to go. I bought a AT for two reasons; I was sick of driving stick for 6 years with my Integra, and I wanted a smooth comfortable drive. Sure enough the AT made more sense in this aspect. I dont regret one bit. The Navi helps though.

In reality, just ask yourself what your going to be using the car for. Race or Sport driving? Get the MT. Otherwise gte the AT
