It'd be cheaper to just buy a V6 sport wagon, but I suppose so.

Your car already has a 5 speed transmission. Are you referring to the manual 6 speed?

I am about three weeks into my TSX Wagon experience. "Not enough horsepower" seems to be a common topic. Well, it has enough for me, but I can see where some folks might want more. The car is very nicely balanced - putting a heavier V6 in the nose might ruin that. IMHO - leave the engine more/less as is, maybe a few basic go-faster parts ( cold air intake, etc). I think the horsepower question would be put to rest if the engine were paired with a slick six speed manual, or even a modern, up to date six or eight speed automatic w/ paddle shifters. EPA Ratings would probably rise 2-3 mpg, and it would be much easier to keep the engine on the boil. It wouldn't be a hot rod, but it would be fun.

Coming in, I was a bit concerned the car might feel "busy" with the 5speed auto. While I would happily accept another gear or two, if executed properly, the 5 speed is well calibrated, it's not an issue for me.
