I purchased my 04 TSX from a well respected Acura dealer in Portland, OR in early Jan 2012. At the time of purchase the Nav DVD drive was actually missing and they provided a written agreement to "fix the navigation system".

The evening after my wife took it in to have the new drive installed I noticed that the Nav Voice Command didn't work. I also realized that the info menu was different than in the manual and I could not find the trip computer.

Through some searching here and another Acura forum I was able to discover how to get into the Nav diagnostic menu. Running the diagnostic I discovered that it shows that XM radio and the HFL both fail. It recognizes both control buttons on the steering wheel but no sound is registered by the mic. My 04 doesn't have XM or HFL and I'm not even sure they were offered in 04. I also recently discovered that the A/C doesn't seem to be functioning correctly.

The part number on the new drive is 39540-SEC-A030-M1 and it has a 2006 white DVD. Through my research, I think that the correct part number for my car should be 39540-SEC-A01-M1 with an orange DVD. I also believe that the 04 should have the trip computer on the nav screen while the 06/07 has the trip computer on the dash. I also have an 06 TL and tried to use the orange DVD from it in the TSX and it said that the disc was not compatible.

I'm convinced that I have a 06/07 drive in my car and my question to the community is whether or not the 06/07 drive should or should not be compatible with the 04 TSX? If its not compatible would this cause the A/C not to work?

I do also want to mention that since the nav was not fixed and the used car lot didn't know what the issue was that the dealership compensated me already and I agreed to deal with the issue myself.

Thanks for the help,
TS

Thanks miskywhisky. I had to go out and take a look but based on the pics in the other thread, it definitely is the 06 drive. Buying an 04 drive off eBay and selling the one they put in was exactly what I was thinking if the folks here thought that was my issue.

Now for the long story on the dealership. Stop reading now if you have a short attention span. :)

I purchased it from the Tonkin Fiat lot which is also the less expensive lot for their Acura dealership up the road. When the nav didn't get fully fixed I had to complain my way up the management chain but never got passed the sales manager. I finally filed a BBB complaint to get someone's attention and once that hit Adam Tonkin's desk I got a call back. I had already put 4k on the odometer, but he offered to give me a full refund including the DMV fees, and purchase the additional accessories I bought from Kendall Acura at full price. The car was a 1 owner that had all service records stamped by Hannah service dept and I got it below the KBB private party price so I wasn't really interested in that offer. You probably know how hard it is to find just the right used car in an acceptable color with the desired options, right?

Anyway, the next offer was to move me up into a 2006 TL Navi car with a-spec wheels for $750 more and if I wasn't happy then to give me a loaner and get my car into their Acura service dept the following week to get looked at. I felt like I got a reasonable deal on the TSX so that made for a very interesting offer on the TL since it is a more expensive vehicle. The TL was also a 1 owner car they took on trade and was in excellent condition.

My wife has been driving an 06 MDX Touring with Navi for almost the last 4 years (also purchased from Tonkin) and she was really enjoying the sportiness of the TSX so we had been thinking of selling the MDX and getting another TSX or maybe a TL with higher miles to get better MPG and to get our payments down.

We headed up to Tonkin late last Friday afternoon to look at the TL and we both really liked it. Who wouldn't love a Redondo Red Pearl TL with nav and a-spec wheels, right? We had also already lined up a buyer for the MDX. Because of that we decided to see if they would still give us a great deal on the TL and let us keep the TSX which they did.

I don't trust car salesmen any further than I can throw them, but I do feel like Adam Tonkin did what he had to in order to make us happy and I will be back next time I'm looking for another Acura. Below is a pic of all 3 of the Acuras together. Too bad the MDX is gone now. :(
