sorry, but I have to laugh at you guys that use Mobil 1, especially the ones that list
it as being "full synthetic." it's no where near fully synthetic. I understand you guys
want to use what's cheap, but don't let the marketing fool you, at least understand
what you're putting into your car.

so instead of just pointing and laughing, I'll offer a suggestion. before I used to link a lot
to bobistheoilguy. but I've found that almost nobody actually reads anything there, they
claim it's all too complicated and such. then they just buy what's been marketed to them.
Mobil 1. so if you're looking for a cheap oil, that performs 10x better than Mobil 1, I suggest
you switch to Penzoil Platinum. I think it's the same price point, I think they also sell at
Wal-Mart and such, and I know for a fact it's far superior to Mobil 1.

if you do take some time to read on bobistheoilguy, you will find that Mobil 1 is like the
big joke of the site, and people are looked down upon for using it, it's always the noobs.

if you want a true synthetic; daily driving, not hard, mostly commuting: Amsoil. drive your
car hard and spirited, looking for the best of the best: Redline.

lots of debate on filters. I stick with the OEM ones personally.

I've tried to fight this battle a few times here (and elsewhere). F-it... just run the "real" good stuff in your engine (and mine) and leave the target market of Mobil-1 to their devices. :)

thats the package they sell for you to do it at your place.

MObil 1 is not what its cracked up to be. my tsx had it for 70k miles with oem filter and i ready several oil reviews and found its a waste since its not a true full synthetic. my last change i used oem filter and cheapo pennzoil. havent decided yet what i am going to make my permanent switch.

in my Pilot i have changed the oil 2x in 15k miles and with oem filter and valvoline and it runs good, clean (dirty at 7k miles but not horiffic)

I've linked people to bobistheoilguy for years on another forum and I agree with you...seems like they don't read that much.

I haven't been there for a while but this new info is nice. I knew that Mobil 1 was a crock and I quit using it when it was found to sheer into a lower weight within a few thousand miles.

I am gonna head back to that site and do some reading. Thanks for the info on Pennzoil.

mobil1 and pennzoil at aautozone are about a $10 difference from one another i saw last night when i was there.
If it was the Pennzoil that was more expensive, are you sure it wasn't "Pennzoil Ultra"? That is another good oil but I'd still stick with the Pennzoil Platinum as it's nearly as good but a heck of a lot cheaper.

WM in the US near me (Ogdensburg, NY) had all grades of Pennzoil Platinum on for $21 or so, maybe cheaper, over the summer. Regular price, large 5 litre jug. Mobil 1 was $24-$25 IIRC. Pennzoil Ultra was $30ish.

Royal Purple is okay, but for the money it's overpriced.

I use Redline because I drive my car very hard. if I didn't drive
so hard I'd use Amsoil. I use Redline's 5w20, which is basically
a 5w30 if you'd compare it to other oils.

Depends what mood Im in.

Sometimes use Mobile 1 0-30 "Green " version.
Sometimes use Castrol Edge 5-30 fully synthetic
Sometimes use Mobile 1 0-40 in the hot summer months.

Fram or Bosch filters used, change every 3-3.5K miles.

It takes the full 5 quarts :king:
