Truth of the matter is if your changing your oil often then it really makes not that much of a difference.sorry, but I have to laugh at you guys that use Mobil 1, especially the ones that list
it as being "full synthetic." it's no where near fully synthetic. I understand you guys
want to use what's cheap, but don't let the marketing fool you, at least understand
what you're putting into your car.
so instead of just pointing and laughing, I'll offer a suggestion. before I used to link a lot
to bobistheoilguy. but I've found that almost nobody actually reads anything there, they
claim it's all too complicated and such. then they just buy what's been marketed to them.
Mobil 1. so if you're looking for a cheap oil, that performs 10x better than Mobil 1, I suggest
you switch to Penzoil Platinum. I think it's the same price point, I think they also sell at
Wal-Mart and such, and I know for a fact it's far superior to Mobil 1.
if you do take some time to read on bobistheoilguy, you will find that Mobil 1 is like the
big joke of the site, and people are looked down upon for using it, it's always the noobs.
if you want a true synthetic; daily driving, not hard, mostly commuting: Amsoil. drive your
car hard and spirited, looking for the best of the best: Redline.
lots of debate on filters. I stick with the OEM ones personally.
I solely used to use Mobile 1 0-40 W in my first ride ( 318is BMW) from 47K miles to 210K miles no mechanical issues and compression was spot on. However changed oil every 5-6K miles.
