If you have the aux port already it's a simple plug and play. If not you have to wire it into the system. It comes with pig tails.

What do the type r crossovers do? How do they work?
Tried doing a google search but type r cross references with alot of products lol

Try alpine type r cross overs. They're basically to wire in your tweeters(highs) and mids into one wiring circuit.
