just wondering how good the tape is on those lip spoilers, either the m3/phase/etc... do they all use double sided tape? if some guy comes by and pulls on the spoiler will it rip off just the lip/tape? or will the paint come w/ the spoiler?

questions questions and more..questions =)

I just got mine too, and i've been asking around, you can go to the body sjops, and they have a special type of automotive body adheisive tape, but they'll ask you ask you if you are taking it on the track, cuz if you go over 180km/h spoiler will come rite off, so what tehy do for lip soilers in drill a thin hole, and achor it down with high strength cable

The 3M automotive / commercial double sided tape (black/dark grey color) is very strong, you can't just rip it off and neither will it fly off at high speeds when applied and installed correctly. But the spoilers would generally be drilled on ends and secured with screws for added protection / safety. The majority of OEM manufacturers and even tuning companies use this method of installing their spoilers with no problems.

The should use some kind of marking position, generally with a few masking tape at different position to mark a spot to drill. Don't worry if it's done by a professional, it shouldn't have any problems. Even drilled spoilers use double sided tape for added strength.

depends, shops will ask you what you going to use it for, cuz if all you do is just on the street, they'll just stick it on, but yeah i've seen ome lip poilers come off before it's halarious!

Do u guys a slight gap between the spoiler and the trunk and you stick the spoiler on?

I do...its like the 3M tape(3M commercial heavy duty double-sided tape) is a bit too thick..... i had an OEM M3 spoiler on my BMW, but had no gap. Its cuz the replica spoiler on the bottom is flat where as the OEM had a little groove to place the tape on.

Just wanted 2 see if any of you with the replicas have the same problem...perhaps im using the wrong tape
