Im looking to by my first Acura. Ive been looking at a few online. Id prefer manual but they seem very hard to find. Is there any reason I should stay away from an automatic? Also most are over 80k miles anything I should be worried about. I would be trading in my 2009 Vw GTI to try and save some $$ on the payment. Im a VW mechanic at an independent shop and some of my customers have TLs that I service as well and I absolutely love those cars. Any info you could give would be much appreciated!

Nothing you should really worry about, other than 2004 TSXs that seem to have A/C failures. If you go with an 2006+ there should be way less issues than the 2004-2005 years but that's not to say that 2004-2005 had a lot of issues. I think generally speaking 2005 - 2008 are the best TSX years.

Good to know. Im seeing a lot of 05 models for sale. Dealer has a 05 Automatic with 71k miles for $13,000. Seems priced a bit high but I know these cars hold their value well.c

Yes, 06-08 are the years you want.

I bought my '06 for $15k in Feb. '13

These 3 features, alone, are rare:
6spd
PWP
Ebony Interior

60k mi.
clean inside and out (has it share of paint imperfections. no dents though)

Just be have patience

6spd's are in fact hard to come by.
But there is nothing wrong with the automatics for the 06-08's, they are very good transmissions, and were improved over the 04-05's
The big thing to look for is maintenance records.

I'd recommend 05-08. I've only heard of problems with the 04 models, but nothing serious. I haven't had any problems out of the ordinary with my 05. An 05 AT with 71k for $13k is a lot...you can find a MT for around that price...

Should come to Toronto, there are tons of PWP w/ Ebony interior. What's rare for us on the contrary are 6spd's with Navigation.

As the others have mentioned though, cant go wrong with 06-08. I've had my 08 TSX since new and, knock on wood, it's been nothing but smooth sailing -- with regular maintenance of course :)

I got my 2006 in January of 2011 with 59k miles, 1 owner bought, all dealer serviced, clean carfax/no accidents, non smoker, for $14k, (+tax).

Its:

6MT
Navi
Black interior
Royal Blue Pearl (rare color, in black with 6mt, more rare, + navi).

+ came with A/S floor mats/trunk tray, tints, and a 08 map disc lol. I looked for over 4 months.

Key is patience and you will find what you want, for a price you want.

I have an 07 M6T with Navi and black on black. Bought in 09 and no serious issues. Have to take it in sometime for the ECM rust recall though. Don't think it's a problem but you never know. My daughter just picked up an 08 auto (won't get it until Monday) with 73Kms (low mileage) for around $17K.
