Metal Rattle When Shutting Doors

6771 Views 6 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  Chelsea John
When i close the drivers and passenger side front doors, there is a metal rattle sound coming from the either under the hood or under the car.

The sound is like 2 pizza trays being dropped on each other from a low height.

It's also much louder and noticable when closing the drivers side door.
No rattles while driving though.

Anyone know what it could be?

So....which pizza chain do you work for? :p

Have you tried looking under the car/hood yet?

lol

I looked and nothing is loose as far as i can tell.

I only hear it when im outside the car, cant tell at all when im inside and shutting the door.

Would anything inside the door being loose cause this rattle?
There could be a thousand thing that can rattle. Since you can easily produce the rattle, just have a friend constantly open and close the door while you walk around the car to pin point the rattle.
Try closing the door from the outside with the hood propped open. Sometime a noise sounds a little different when there are layers of material in between. That might help a little but nothing beats having someone else assist you like cYn said.

Check to see if your hood latch is secure. I know that a license plate holder can make that sound, especially if it's metal.
Could it be something inside the door underneath the door cover? I had a sound like that recently when I closed the door, and I just had to bolt down a few things and tighten a few screws.
