I am going to replace my transmission soon or possibly rebuild it. Does anyone know if the 2nd gen auto transmissions will work with the 1st gens? They should be the same correct?

Anybody has an answer to this? I have the same problem and was thinking that if the tranny on the 06-08 is improved, perhaps I can get that for my 05

My 06 has the same auto transmission whine. Sadly to say, I've learned to live with it since it hasn't had any other negative effects on the car.

I can also hear it. It's barely noticeable to me but it's only on first or second gear I think and it's at very low speeds. Does it have any affect on the performance of the car? or is it slowly ruining my transmission? If not. I don't see the reason to fix it.

i have the transmission whine as well and so did the 08 loaner(had 70k km) i drove before. seems like a common issue with these transmissions...

Yes, I am doing the same. The gears work perfectly and the noise is only in neutral, 1, 2 gear, then it becomes unnoticeable. I do not know if it affects anything, for now I am leaving it as it is, but I was asking just in case, for future reference- if I have to fix it in the future. From the other posts, seems like all years are having the same issue...

Yea it wouldn't hurt to do a 3x drain and fill. That's the first thing I did when I got my car but it didn't do anything for the whine.
