New PCB - 5 digit code provided for my 4 digit NAV

Hi all-
My daughter purchased a 2004 TSX. I'm sorting out the common issues with this year. One of them being the center console lights.

I purchased a new PCB, and installed it last night. The good news, is that the console lights are working again! The bad news, is that I can't enter the code they provided. They provided me with a 5 digit code to unlock it. However, my NAV screen only accepts 4 digit codes.

I called the dealership I bought it from, and they checked my VIN number and confirmed I received the correct PCB. I always thought the 5 digit codes were for standard radios, and 4 digit codes were for NAV?

I also went online and had Acura send me the code based off the serial number, but the code matched what I originally had. The dealership I bought it from wants me to take it into my local dealership to figure out what's up...but I'm trying to avoid that.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

All of the Acuras I have owned - 3 G2 Legends and 2 G1 TSX'es were all non-nav, and all had 5 digit radio codes. Because I still have the 2 G1 TSX'es, I picked up a next to new (used) non nav PCB as a spare to keep on the shelf, as they were discontinued quite some time ago. (BTW - how did you find one? Everyone on the forums with this problem report they cannot find one). The spare non-nav PCB I have has a 5 digit code, based on the doc I have with the PCB. From the Acura 04-021 Service Bulletin, dated 1/23/2007, I see the non nav PCB is 3917A-SEC-A01RM, and the nav PCB is 3917A-SEC-A51RM. Does this match the PCB you received? The Service Bulletin does not say whether the code will be 4 or 5 digits.

I have 2 documents. Service Bulletin 04-021, and another that says "Acura Radio PCB board serial number and code retrieval". Maybe these will help. If you would like them send me a PM with your email and I'll send you scans of them.
Thanks @TSXKen - I finally got it all sorted out. I called American Honda Motor Co, and talked to their radio code department. They said the PCB code and serial number I provided, should work with the VIN I gave them. They said there are TWO codes. One for the navigation unit, and one for the radio (the one for the radio was the new one). They told me my only option was to take it to a dealer to get the NAV code.

I found online a way to get the NAV code, by holding down the MAP-MENU-CANCEL buttons at the same time for a few seconds. This pulled up the diag menu, where I was able to get the NAV serial number and track down the code.

Once I got the NAV working, my radio wouldn't work since it now needed the radio code. Pushing the power knob put me into "code" mode, and I was able to use the tuning knob to enter my new PCB/radio code. Everything is working great now!

To answer your question about the PCB, I ordered it here (just went down $10 this week!):

It looks like the non nav PCB is the one that is discontinued - This is the reply I got to the Delray p/n search -

DISCONTINUED ** CIRCUIT BOARD, PRINTED CP
Part Number: 3917A-SEC-A01CP Fits: Acura: TSX SEDAN

The nav PCB is still available, as you found out! I assumed they were both discontinued. That's good news for some.

That's too bad. I'm concerned that this board will fail eventually. If this really was discontinued the same time the non-nav did, I'll be pretty upset down the road.
Happy to see you were able to get a replacement PCB and get the code sorted. Thanks for following up!

For non-nav PCB owners, the only option is to take it or send it to an electronics repair shop. Acura used to have remanufactured boards but (as stated) they are definitely discontinued.

From what I've read, expect 5-10 years out of the board if you're in a temperate climate and garage the car. Less if it's outside in really extreme climates.

Hello, so if my navigation (TSX '05) went completely dark then this is the part that I need to fix it? Thanks!!
If you have the symptoms described in the numerous posts about this common problem, then the applicable part numbers and service bulletins are in this thread.
