New RonJon Legacy wheels arrived, and planning on new tires for spring... but watching for sales.
Planning on Michelin Pilot Super Sport, but question of the tire experts - which size - pros & cons?
DD, unfortunately won't be lowering. Opted for standard +48 offset. When ordering, RonJon said could put 225/40/19s on vs 245/35/19 most everyone seems to install.
If I'm doing math right - 245/35/19s are more standard at 25.81" (225/50/17 are 25.93" - right?) But 225/40/19 are close enough at 26.14"...
Anyone try this combo or have opinions? Price of tire is same, but I'm looking for a little more rubber and gas milage... Is it going to make a difference? Will the thinner tires look much different?

haha we only flame the guy for asking bout curb rash because he blames the car manufacture for his mistakes. no doubt that 245 has more side wall than 235 which means better protection though

235/35/19 gets my vote for being exactly the OEM circumference. Meaning Speedo will be accurate.
Cool chart... but is the 215/50/17 for 1st Gen or 2nd? Looking online I see '08 at 215, but the '09 is 225. Mine is 2nd Gen 2010.

But thanks for the chart... like to see one showing the 245/35/19 to see all specs for that. Thanks!

Go 255/35 ;) I have 255/45 front and 245/45 on 17x8 looks mean with stock height.

See what specs on a 255/30 and 245/35 would setup like :):)

^ this. I have 255 all around and I love it. I don't think I'll ever go back to 215 or even 225.

Funny you should mention 255s. Running the chart from tekneek, I noticed that 255/35 was close to spec, just over at +0.7%, but also highest sidewall within 2%...

Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
225/50-17 4.4in 12.9in 25.9in 81.2in 780 0.0%
225/40-19 3.5in 13.0in 26.1in 82.0in 773 0.9%
235/35-19 3.2in 12.7in 25.5in 80.0in 792 -1.5%
235/40-19 3.7in 13.2in 26.4in 82.9in 764 2.1%
245/35-19 3.4in 12.9in 25.8in 80.9in 783 -0.4%
255/35-19 3.5in 13.0in 26.0in 81.8in 775 0.7%
255/30-19 3.0in 12.5in 25.0in 78.6in 806 -3.2%

Color me fickle, arguing to go skinny at 225/40-19 vs. 245, then jumping to 255s.
Another interesting thing about 255... not that much more $. Interesting 235s are the most expensive. Costco prices on Michelin Pilot Super Sport:
225/40-19 $254
235/40-19 $297
245/35-19 $259
255/35-19 $264

Don't think the wider tire will hurt on the outside with my +48 offset... but any trouble with the wider tire on the inside?
