the felt strip is placed inside the door to protect the window tint from being scratched when you open and close the window.

This is the first car i tinted, so i wanted to do it right. i learned about this felt strip from another forum. i ultimately didn't get a felt strip in the door, cause the guy who installed mine said it wasnt necessary. I dont trust him, however, i have had no scratches whatsoever from opening and closing the window with tints on.

I've had tint on every car i've owned and i haven't had any problems with scratches. they have to use good tint though. I have had problems with the tint on one of the cars but it's because the brackets in the door were making the window go up and down wrong, but other than that, it's been pretty good.

This is not a matter of good tint or not good tint. The problem is that if the inside of the windows where that plastic guard is there gets dirty, ie. dirt gets in there, it will rub the plastic guard with the tint and create vertical scratches. I have this on my tint after the first time I rolled it down and I'm waiting to get the felt put on before rolling my windows.

There is actually felt on the outside plastic guard but for some reason Acura didn't put felt on the inside plastic guard. If you guys with tint haven't experienced it yet, that's because you guys have been lucky and haven't gotten dirt in there.
