Hi everyone,

I checked my oil level this morning and the level shows about 30% above the 'low' line on the dipstick. Last oil change I did was on April 10th and I did about 4000KM's (approx. 2500 miles).

- Car is 100% stock.
- City + highway driving, I punch it occasionally but never go past the redline.
- Odometer displays 127000KM (approx. 80K miles).
- Oil is 5w30 (non-synthetic).
- In-car gauge displays 50% remaining oil life.

Should I change the oil now instead of adding some?
Should I be worried about the oil consumption?
What are you experiences with switching to full-synthetic oil?

Feedback from experienced TSX owners would be appreciated! Thanks

Since you didn't mention what the oil level was right after your last oil change, who know's if the oil level has even changed.

I would top it up to the full mark on the dipstick.
According to your post it should take about 1/2 a liter (US quart) to top it up.

Then watch the engine oil level closely. Check it every time you get gas.
At least once a week 1st thing in the morning after the car has sat all nite.
This will tell you if your engine is consuming oil.

You didn't mention your location. This will determine what viscosity of engine oil to run.
0W-30 is a little thin for a high revving, hot running K24 engine in the summer.

I remember the oil level to be slightly above the full mark when I got it done.

I'm from Canada (Montreal). There were a lot of ups and downs in the temperature recently, maybe that could've played a role? I'm using 5w30 non-synthetic oil.

I was told that swithing to synthetic oil @ 90K miles could have bad consequences on the engine?

Switching to Full Synth will have zero consequences.

The car will consume some oil. For my car it is normal to need to add about a quart of oil after 3/4k miles.

Seems normal to me. The only time synthetic would potentially cause issues is if your car does have an oil leak being prevented by the dino oil. The conditioners in the synthetic would 'clean' the deposits stopping the existing leak, therefore letting the leak... leak again. You can switch between syn or regular anytime you want.
