I need help getting rid of a P2184, "Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor 2 Circuit Low." I picked up the sensor from Acura dealer. I replaced the sensor that's on the radiator on the driver side , I erased the light but it comes back on immediately. Any help would be appreciated.

thanks,

Hmm I'm not too knowledgeable in this area but since it says Sensor 2, are you sure you replaced the correct sensor?

Did you drain the fluids? Supposedly a member says you have to drain it

04-05 TSX's had a fan switch, 06-08 have sensors..the part itself costs $27, it will require the radiator to be drained as well as the sensor plugs into the radiator.

Its usually just the lower radiator one that goes bad, it is in a high corrode location.
I replaced mine from the Acura Dealer. Code went away instantly.
I know there are a couple that look similar but are not (thicker metal / wrong length) I actually ordered one first from the online OEM but they sent me the wrong one and it didn't read correctly.

Cooling sensor changed! Drained the coolant and took mine out (i used a 17mm wrench but it's probably supposed to be a 16mm) to see the contacts had corroded. The corrosion in the contacts indicates the coolant somehow got into the sensor and possibly shorted it.

Replaced it with one from Advanced Auto for ~$35 (cuz i needed it quick); I used a 17mm wrench and after intalling it...

I flushed the radiator, refilled with new coolant (use a 10mm wrench if i you want to remove & dump the contents of the reservoir) and the Check Emission light immediately disappeared. Nice! (Didnt need to reset anything.)

By the way, my Check Emmissions code WAS P0128. Thanks everyone on this forum for their input. Hope my post can help someone too. :p If anything goes haywire in the near future, I'll be back to update!

Nice.
Ya mine looked the same. Actually mine was so bad that one of the pins actually got stuck in the wire harness plug.

After I changed it I wrapped it in electrical tape. Easy thing to replace but hopefully it will reduce the chance of getting crud in there causing it to corrode again.

Hi bati, have you got this problem solved? I got the same problem and found out that there was no voltage for ECT sensor 1 connectors when ignition on. So it won't work for change sensors. I would appreciate if you can share some experience with this. Thanks!
