Hello All,

I’m new to this forum and just wanted to ask.. I have been owning a 06 TSX and wanted to do a tune up. I heard it’s good to change the PCV valve. Any recommendations? Also any other tune up parts I should change?
Thank you!

How many miles does your car have? If you are around 100K+, it might be worthwhile to check & adjust your valve lash. You'll need a new valve cover gasket and a dab of RTV for parts, and a feeler gauge and a little inexpensive tool that incorporates a screwdriver into the wrench (you can buy both tools on Amazon) to make the adjustments.

my car has 213,000 miles! I will definitely get that
Checked up. What type of PCV valve do you recommend I get? There are so many to choose from.

Careful. The valves on this car are very touchy and little hard to get at with the feelers. I wouldn't try it unless you have experience with adjusting valves, or are willing to repeat the process a few times. Just take it to somebody who knows these motors.

I have a lot of experience with valves (every 1500 miles on old VW's) and it still took me two tries to get it right. The first time I set the lash on the looser end of the spec, and the performance sucked. Went back and did it again with the next tighter gauge and that was fine... one gauge size made a big difference. Also got longer feelers and the jam nut tool to tighten the locknut while holding the adjuster. I would get definitely get the tool...

Gotcha! Thanks for the heads up. I was going try And do it my self but I rather take it to someone. Do you know where I can get a good PCV valve?
Thanks again!

A 2006 TSX with 213, 000 miles.

When is the last time you had a full maintenance and inspection on this car?
All the fluids, all the filters, full suspension, steering and brake check?
New spark plugs, serpentine belt, timing chain check, compression test, valve clearances set?

The PCV valve is trivial but I would go to Acura for a new one if the old one is really gummed up and you don't want to clean it.

I've done a few valve adjustments, but only on SOHC engines. And yes, I've had to do them over before...lol I'm hoping some (if not most) of them are still within spec. I have the tool you're talking about, and several sets of feeler gauges...straight, bent, etc.

Too loose and it's noisy. Too tight, and you might burn a valve. A little loose is better than a little tight, but the idea is to hit it in the middle.
