it's better to make 45 from Acura TSX VTC gear, from Hondata page:

TSX VTC mechanism showing material to be removed to increase the cam advance from 25-45 degrees
This is known, however, finding a shop to do this machining is difficult and pinned VTC's are readily available - I would like to see one before buying one.

Toda make ones with 40 degrees, but very expensive :( Any good CNC machining shop can do this - remove material from TSX VTC ;)

I never bothered pinning mine and I have had it on the car for months and it is my daily driver. I know people who run 48-50 VTC on their K24a2 and they don't have issued (not that I recommend this)

Pinning is not a bad idea, but I am not 100% convinced it is required since your VTC is probably much less than 45 at high rpms if you are Turbo or NA. Supercharged might have a little higer VTC, but still probably not in the 40+ range.

I just have my Kpro programmed to a max of 45 and have had no issues.

Just my 2 cents...

It's cheap insurance... at any rate - I'm not asking if it's better to machine, or to be talked out of pinning or machining... Please post a pic of a pinned VTC if you have one!
