Hi all,

I just got my 2009 TSX base model with 6spd about a month ago and already had a headlight burn out. So I did hours of research to figure out what bulb I needed (dealer told me it is a $220 HID bulb, Canadian Tire told me it was a $150 HID bulb, Rock Auto - $65 HID bulb) regardless of where I looked everyone is saying that I needed a replacement HID bulb.

So I ordered the one from Rock Auto, took off my passenger side wheel, unscrewed the wheel well plastic housing, and got at my low beam lamp, only to discover when I pulled out the dead bulb that is was not an HID at all.

Here the link to part of a service manual I found for this kind of bulb:
( TL19E00J32133114883KBAT00 )

Does anyone know what kind of bulbs these are, or know the product number or point me to where I could buy some?

Thank you!

im pretty sure all TSX low beam bulbs are HID, unless you are in Europe and have an Accord, then only it is possible to have a halogen bulb. Judging from the url, that seems to be a manual for the EDM accord (it is quite possible most instructions do overlap, but not in the case of the headlight). But, it's clear you have a TSX in Canada. Also, manuals are not akin to bulbs, but to their respective cars.

How did you determine that the bulb that you pulled out was not an HID bulb?
Is your other headlight bulb the same? is that an HID bulb? Do you have a wire from the ignitor (coming from a ballast) attaching to the bulb?

Are you sure its not your DRL that is out (which is the same as your high beam)?

At this point (especially if it took you hours to find out what bulb it is), it doesn't seem to me that you are very clear about what is going on and you should take your car to the dealer ASAP before doing any work on it. If you don't want to pay them, at least get them to correctly diagnose the issue and then come back here with some more info. for ppl to help you with.

Yes, I'm sure it's not my DRL that I pulled out, you can get to that through the engine bay no problem and those are H11 bulbs, the one I pulled out is a H1 bulb, I'll post a link with a picture of a bulb pretty much exactly like the one I removed from my low beam socket.

Scroll down to the picture, my low beam bulb is exactly like the upper left (clear) H1 bulb.

I'd post pics of my actual bulb but apparently that is beyond my membership privileges.

There was no igniter, no ballast, just a single pin holding the bulb in place and a simple 'slide on' electrically connector (which is rather stuck on I might add)

you can link images through a thirdparty like imageshack i believe...

accords can use H1 halogen bulbs, i have never heard of an USDM TSX not having a HID bulb and what youre describing does sound like how the H1 is connected.
the ignitor and ballast are on the bottom of the headlight and have a similar slide on electric connector.

check out this diagram and see if you can identify any components, it is for 2009 TSX 6MT, non-tech USDM... maybe there is a different version available in Canada that I am not aware of?

Fog lights seem to be H11. High beams/DRLs are 9005. Take a pic of the headlight an the bulb that's out. And also once the bulb is out take a pic to make sure you have the right one!!
Edit: *from the pic* That top left clear one should be your high beam bulb. It's H1. Research shows that is the case anyways.

Unless your car is weird :) then nvm, you bought the sub-base trim. I'm curious, can you take a pick inside your engine bay at it?

The Canadian TSX base model does not come with HID lights. You have to move into the premium package to get them.
No way! Lol those jerks. Typical Canadians

So bottom line here :
Base model Canadian TSX does not have hid?? . Yet hosts ballast.
I went to my dealer for hid replacement when I saw the ballast. I was baffled but They convinced me regardless there is no HID fitting. So should I buy a hid conversion kit then? Or maybe try higher intensity bulbs?
Input greatly appRiecated!
