Rant: First transaction over E-bay

I should be kicking myself in the ass right now, for using E-bay after telling myself up until now to now use it. I’m one of those cheap ass Chinese guys that like to feel and examine the item before they buy it. Well since the snowboarding season was coming up I decided to get new goggles (Oakley Wisdoms) I shopped around and asked my friends where I could get the best deals, so this one friend told me that E-bay was great place for Snowboarding stuff. So after much hesitation I started look on E-bay and found a pair of goggles at a reasonable price where the seller had a bunch so it made it more legit. Of course I checked his feedback and asked him a lot of question before I made any bids to ease my mind a bit more. So after a few tries I finally won one of his auctions, I asked him a few more question’s and he replied very quick, so I sent him a money order as he requested since he only took money order and personal cheques.

Four days later E-bay fraud division sends me a e-mail about how this buyers account is compromised and was accessed by a third-party and etc…

I sent the buyer a few e-mails yesterday and called and visited the post office a few times today and asked if I could cancel the money order, I even told them I getting scammed and I was getting frauded, but they told me they couldn’t do anything, now I’m waiting for his reply but I doubt I’ll get one, I’m extremely bitter and feeling helpless and doubt I’ll shop on e-bay again.

Thanks for listening,
Cliff notes: I got Scammed on E-bay!

3rd.. if u ask ur bank if u can cancell ur money order.. most of the time will be NO..

but of course there is way and there is fee.... it really depends on how well
ur relation is with the bank sometimes...
heh...I kinda got scammed on ebay once... I bought a couple hundred bucks worth of stuff from a buyer and I found out through a few others who bought stuff from the guy that he died... sheesh!!

from now on, I only buy stuff through paypal with a my credit card...so in case something falls through and paypal doesn't go after them, I'm telling my CC comp.

I am cautious about Paypal and eBay users these days. My paypal account was hacked earlier this year and my CC and Bank Account info were stolen. Paypal doesn't really help you in this situation, instead they gave me a lame automated response saying they're working on the situation. They might have, but its cost me a lot of time and headache...ugh!

yeah...paypal didn't want to do anything for me in my auction...I just gave up... So my loss was to help with the fams funeral.... interesting way of looking at it...

Atleast your money went to a good cause, I donno where mine went??
Hope it wasnt to some terrorist fund :sadwavey:
sorry to hear that... all my transactions are done by paypal and I did have an experience in the past where I was scammed and I just called visa and they cancelled the transaction for me.

I've been kinda iffy on using my bank account or sending a mail order cheque... at least with a CC you have some sort of backup in case things go sour.

exactly...cc companies are more willing to cut off transactions than other other form of payment....much easier too
