Just received the following from Acura for my 2004 TSX:

• Recall Notice
  
• Reimbursement Letter

In 6/2012, my TSX wouldn't start. Dealer tech replaced ECM to fix the issue.

Here is the Repair Invoice

Will you have a look at the reimbursement notice and the invoice and let me know if you think I have a valid claim for reimbursement ?

That's about as valid as it can get. I too got the letter and one part states:

", the ecu may malfunction cauding the engine to stall resulting in a crash"

= Your car wasn't starting, lol.


No where on that receipt does it state the cause for the ecu malfunction (from corrosion/short/etc) so your claim should go through.

Good luck and use that near $1000 to get some mods

The cause for the ECU/PCM to malfunction causing the engine to stall resulting in a crash is related to corrosion on the computer. This is due to the ECU/PCM being very close to the floor and the carpet getting wet.

I took my car in last week regarding this and it turned out my car needed the ECU/PCM replaced. This was actually one of the first TSX's at my local dealership that have needed it replaced. Also it probably needed to be replaced because of our long harsh winters here and the floor can easily get wet So the ended up replacing it and also installing a cover to protect it. The cost of the part for the dealer was $1200.

I am super happy because it turned out that this was the cause of my check engine light being on!
