Reflash vs. Full Tune

Hi guys,

I've been lurking around for a while, but this is my first post. I'm a total noob so I need some advice. Sorry if this topic has already been covered elsewhere, but I guess I'm looking for a personalized answer.
I've read a lot about the Hondata reflash and I've decided I'm going for it! I have a '07 MT. I'm looking at this option - Flashpro Dealer reflash
from Xenocron Tuning: Fuel Management and DIY Tuning Resource Center for Honda and Acura Performance - Hondata, eCtune, Neptune, Crome, TurboEdit, Uberdata

It would be nice and quick (ie. dont have to mail the ECU) and it's only 45 min from where I live. So I contact the the guy at xenocron and he mentions the option of a full custom tune. The reflash is $350 and the full tune is $750. I feel like $750 is a lot and the cost/benefit is substantially less than the Hondata reflash. I would like your guys opinions on this.

The car is completely stock...I'm also looking at getting an intake...any suggestions? Or any other recommended first mods?

Thanks in advance for your time!

$750 (FlashPro unit + tune, correct?) will be worth it when the car actually drives smooth, has improved traffic manners, (over stock even), is effecient, etc... a tune specific to your car is what you want.

Reflashes that are just quick and generic are typically just for a "base" to get your car to run, after modification(s), so you can get a specific tune for your car.
To clarify: I'm not getting the FlashPro unit. The $750 option is putting the car on their dyno and it's a full custom tune specific to my vehicle. The $350 option is just the Hondata reflash. From what I've read alot of people are more than satisfied with the gains from the reflash. I'm just wondering if paying an extra $400 is worth it. Sounds like a lot...
NO! 750 full tune is absolutely not worth it. My car is the base map for Hondata's TSX. I pulled 229 HP from a generic reflash. Hondata then used my car to fine tune it to release their base map and I pulled 232. So the extra power from a base flash to a full tune is not worth it. Plus $750 is damn steep.
Yea... you can easily get the flashpro unit and like unlimited e-tunes from numerous companies for $750... that's the best bet.

$750 for just a tune is a joke
Ok cool thanks. That's what I thought...750 looked suspect so I'm glad I asked. The generic reflash is what I'll do. As for other upgrades, what would enhance this reflash the most? I'm already set on getting a K&N CAI...as for other upgrades, I want to keep things cheap, so probably not headers or anything like that (at least not yet). I'm really new to all of this stuff, but I want to learn so thank you for your time and explanation.

cwin89, i've been thinking about the same thing!
I just have the Comptech Icebox and Progress RSB. $750 is way too much, and I probably wouldn't have the time to play around (fine-tune) with the FlashPro.

Please chime in with your thoughts after you've gotten the reflash done and let us know how it went (ie how long it takes, etc)
The generic reflash is made for a stock car, or one with a few bolt-ons.

You would at least want to get 45* VTC if you're going to pay for a dyno tune!
i was gonna post something about this but this thread helped alot.. im about to save up for a reflash on a 06 ecu.. cus thats all it can afford no kpro or flashrpo

Then your stage 3 cams won't work. You need FlashPro to tune those cams.
