As I said before, everything old is new again. Not much new ever really comes out that hasn't been tried before.
Case in point, check out these rotating seats in the JDM Accord. A similar seating concept was used here in the US during the mid 70's by GM on their midsize models, specifically the Chevy Malibu and Monte Carlo.
I'm starting to worry a little about Honda...

Sort of surprised they didn't automate it, notice the built in foot rest.
