Club,

I recieved a CT RSB for free but it's pretty rusty (also came with mounts).

The rust seems to eat about 1mm into the bar, I think it can be described as more than surface rust.

I called around for powder coating jobs and someone said they would do it for $65 if I got it cleaned up (removed the rust).

My question is, is it worth it to remove the rust? Will it greatly affect the performance of the bar to remove 1-2mm off the bar?

Kindest Regards,

If it is more than simple surface rust, ie: a couple passes with some sand paper fully removes it, I'd consider the strength of the bar compromised. I wouldn't use it.

Hard to say without seeing it in person though.

Once that rust gets into the metal it is hard to stop. You have to take down a good bit of metal to make sure it is clean. If it was a door panel it wouldn't be such a big deal, but for a RSB I'd question it.
