Hey guys, is it common for the front brake(only one) to sound like its scratching(not squealing/whining)when braking softly and when hitting bumps?

The pads are just standard honda pads and have always squealed when stopping but lately the left front pad scratches and squeals. It sounds like its cutting through my rotor haha, but I still have plenty of pad left.

Has anyone else run into this problem or know anything about it. I feel like it could be from hitting all those damned pot holes this winter, cause its only on one side.

Double-check the pads - inside pad tends to wear faster if brakes are sticking. This is also the pad that typically has the squealer-bar on it.
Could also be sand/rock in the groove in the pad.

You guys suggest takin the pad off and checkin out. Could it be anything else...rotor, caliper, suspension maybe? It tends to scratch when I hit bumps in the road, would that imply suspension issues or irregular just pressure on the pads?

It sounds to me like the inside pads have completely worn out, the outside ones may look fine, but you might have to jack the car up and look inside the wheels for the inside pads to make sure that they still have plenty life left in them. Double check to make sure!

The second thing I can think of is that you can try opening or realigning and tapping the dust shield because you might have something sticky or a huge rock stuck under there. Please confirm if you checked so we know not to ask you to do the same thing twice
