Hey everybody,

I just found a garage kept, 2007 Black TSX Manual transmission with 47,000 miles owned by one of my professors. I have 2 questions.

1) What do you think this car is worth, KBB says around 12,000 in excellent condition?

2) Currently I own an RSX and would be selling it for a down payment. Are there any common obvious issues that i should have my mechanic check for before i pull the trigger on this? I know how rare this car seems, but is it actually as rare as i think it is? I have always wished that my RSX was a TSX and this car just stumbled into my life. Thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

What is his asking price?
No it is not as rare as it seems... They are everywhere in my parts of town. Are you coming from a RSX-S or a base model? You might lose the sportier feel

I think the only issue you should look for the is AC, to make sure it works. I believe it's the compressor that goes. I probably wouldn't pay anything over 12k for that. I sold my 04 for only 5300... but it had a lot more km.

An 07 with 47K miles is really new and young. Your professor almost barely drove it. I'm not sure the exact resale value, but our cars retain value pretty well. If KBB states 12K, usually sellers will sell it for over 12K. KBB values are usually averages or understated. From what I noticed, dealers buy below KBB price and sellers sell above KBB price.

If your professor thinks 15K, try to bargain it to around 13K-14K.

It all depends on where you live, but KBB is def. not understated. They are most def. overstated. I would offer somewhere in between the KBB and Edmunds price, as edmunds undervalues sort of.

+1 for the location. It feels like KBB understated for my area's pricing. Majority of the cars on craigslist for the bay area are slightly over KBB price.

That's crazy. A manual tsx is hard to come by here in ohio, let alone one with not even 50k on it. I would get an inspection done before buying though just for security. If the inspection checks out and it was well maintained I would jump on it for sure. I think you would appreciate the luxury feel compared to the rsx, without giving up much in terms of sportiness especially compared to a base rsx. Good luck bro!
