I just got back from the Acura dealership and...yes, I'm smiling.
It's raining buckets here today and what better weather for a test drive.
We went out in a red TSX, 6-speed.

The sales dude said we'd go for a short drive but it was a nice long one. Right away the car felt special. I gingerly went through the gears at first because I wanted to get used to the clutch. After I got the feel where the sweet spot was I began to rev that engine nicely. That shifter is so smooth and short, I think I'm in love. Jim(Acura dude) was a great passenger. Since I already knew all of the car's wonders, he just let me do my thing while he talked to my father who was in the back seat.

Engine - it was excellent. Now my driving background does not include anything newer than a 92 Accord but I thought the engine has more than enough punch for my driving style. Combined with that beauty transmission, acceleration was just fine. Even when I punched the gas at 2500RPMs in fourth gear, there was still a good surge with little delay. I guess I can thank the drive-by-wire throttle for that. That extra gear was great as well. I was on the highway doing 100km and there was plenty of punch in sixth. BTW, the engine sounded great. Final conclusion - who needs a six cylinder?

Transmission - as stated above, I'm in love. Enough said.

Handling - oh boy. Besides my boss' MINI Cooper S, I've never driven a car with any decent performance. The steering feels so good. It's perfectly weighted in my opinion and the steering wheel itself is sweet. Although I didn't really push it into corners, the car felt well capable of greater things. It all felt so...
solid?
tight?
smooth?
All of the above! I think I just discovered what a "drivers car" is all about.

After my drive I was going to go and try a few other cars but f*ck it. The TSX has won my heart and in a few months I'm going to get one for sure.

right on admindude. There's just one negative from today's test drive.
It's going to be a few months until I can even commit to this car. I'm waiting on a will to be probated (probate=final tax grab by the gov't). If my calculations are correct, I'll have enough to buy the car straight up and still have plenty left to make a large downpayment on an apartment and do some more responsible things. I could spend half of it on a BMW M Coupe but that would be just stupid. The TSX is right at the cutoff for how much I'm willing to spend on a new car and for what we pay in Canada ($34 800), I think its a great price.

That negative I mentioned is I won't be driving one for quite a while and maybe test driving it was a little premature. I'm going through withdrawl already. Must have TSX...must have smooth shifting 6-speed...must....ahhh....:D

When is your projected delivery?

I bought my TSX on Monday 5/12. I drove it the 9th and bought it 3 days later. I got the automatic because I talk alot on the phone and it has the manual feature which is nice. The car handles GREAT!!! I have back to back S curves going to work and it handles superbly hauling A$$. I didn't get the NAVI system but I did get the entire spoiler kit and fog lights which was more than the NAVI system from the dealer. The price was 26,980 without the kit and the kit added almost 3000 more dollars. There were no TSX's without the NAVI or a kit on the lot. The dealer in South Carolina would NOT deal at all! Total price 29,700. However, I am the only guy in town driving one because of the five the dealer got (3 silver, two black) I bought the first one. I see alot of acura drivers with whiplash after I drive by. Anyway, it is NightHawk black with black leather. I LUV this car!!!!! I traded my 94 Integra 4 door in. It was in pretty bad shape but they gave me some bucks anyway. Lots of dings and dents kept me from getting alot of $$$ in trade. I will never buy any other car than an Acura. I hope everyone enjoys this car, it is a beauty!!!!!!!!! BTW the BMW plant is in this town and everyone drives one. I love to park next to a whole line of Beemers. heheheehee

Would that be Spartanburg?
Nice to hear you're enjoying the car. You got black on black, eh? Man they really screw us Canadians. I wanted black but up here it only comes with parchment/wood interior. F**K!!!!!!!

Anyway, have fun Buddha

Colour? What were they thinking?

Yeah, I hear ya. I would have bought black in a heartbeat, but I'm just not about parchment interior and wood. The titanium accent and black leather is sweet looking....so, I began considering the silver. 2 weeks later, a few rainy days, and after having seen a ton of silver BMWs, I'm stuck on the silver now. You've gotta see one with black tint---that really makes a difference, and in our Canadian winters (particularly in Ontario), it so hard to keep black clean with all the salt. Silver rules guys... give it a chance. Getting mine in about a week :D

Old threads are like an archeological dig.
Imagine, there was a time when Soze barely knew about TSX's.

Oh I forgot, there was a time when everybody didn't know about TSX's. :D

So.....his boss has a Mini S, eh?
Don't know about y'all, but I wanna hear about the Mini S.
