Speakers Upgrade

I'm planning to upgrade my stock sound system and a single din head unit (with the Acura audio attachment kit), an amplifier, and a capacitor. I believe I'm gonna need a 2 sets of 6.5" (front and rear) speakers and a set of (6x9). Im not planning to add a sub since the 6x9's produces them and I don't want to lose the trunk space.

My concern is the fitting of the 6.5" speakers. I've been reading up on it and heard that it would need some work. For anybody who upgraded their speakers, was it difficult to install?

Not bad at all if you have ever done speaker swaps before it won't be any harder than any other vehicle.

I plan on doing it come spring time, already swapped out my 6x9 and i just got front and rear 6.5's on BF. after i upgraded my 6x9 i noticed significant difference and increased quality in sound. as far as 6.5's go all you really need is spacers as far as i know, im going to be running alpine sps-610 / 610c and from what i read they are better and only slightly larger than OEM speakers so i am not expecting any issues to arise during the install.

are you going to add a sub or are you running the bass through the 6X9's just like stock? and what kind of amp do you have?

As fas as the brand I'm planning on getting Polk Audio or Pioneer. Still looking into rockford fosgates too.

No I've never done any swaps...This is my first car, and my first real modification to it. Not including the HIDs that i went to a shop for to install. Yess... I'm a noobie

I spoke to a guy from Crutchfield, told me that any 6.5" speakers may not fit due to the mounting height and recommends me to go for 5.25"s. But I've gone through the forums and been seeing that a lot of folks here are putting 6.5"s. He also told me about how the 6x9 have mounting height issues as well. So in my head, :donno:
easy fix. Just need a jigsaw and some 1/4 or 1/2 wood. Get the speakers and see how much the speakers need to be raised. There shouldnt be an issue with the 6x9's because there is nothing behind them. I run about the deepest speakers I have ever seen someone put in a door in a stock location. I use a 1" riser ring and they fit fine. So just get the speakers you want and you can make them fit.
my plan is to run my alpine 610/610C through a Alpine MRP-F300 , then i got a 10" type R 1042D sub that will be running of off a MRP-M500 or MRX-M100 havnt decided yet, also contemplating on whether or not to leave the 6x9's and run them of off powerpack or gut them completly and let the subs breathe through the rear deck openings. my entire setup will be ALPINE.

Im going through the same thing, I want to run either focals or morels and everyone has told me they won't fit.
focals will fit. I run two sets of 165K2P's

Just ordered my head unit (Pioneer DEH-P9400BH) and my speakers. I went with Polk Audio, the DB6501 components for the front doors and the DB651 for the rear door.

Now I need to look for some 6x9's. Anyone have suggestions?. And for the amplifier, I'm gonna go for the Alpine MRX-F65's pushing 110 watts per channel.
