Good day fellow TSX lovers,

My 2012 TSX Sport Wagon 2.4L with 72k miles has this intermittent knocking noise that is unlike fuel injectors ticking.
This noise sounds like "knocking on hollow wood", less frequent than the usual ticking, and most noticeable during cooler engine startup and last ~5-10 min.
Noise is not noticeable during high revving and acceleration.
Engine perform and revs like any other Honda/Acura 4-cyclinder I have ever had with good power.

Have receipts from PO regarding regular oil changes.
Just changed oil again with 0W20 along with added 1 bottle of Liqui-Moly Ceratec to see if it would quiet it down but has had no effects.

Any ideas?
Oil pump chain tensioner? Balance shaft chain tensioner?
I am having my indy do the front axles on it next week, and any ideas will help in maybe preparing them to change whatever part or help point them to the right direction in diagnosing this problem.

Car is at my mechanic right now for axles replacements. Any idea what that sound can be so I can tell my mechanic? Any and all help is appreciated.

Knocking noise

Common problem with these acura 2.4 at start up it rattles I've got a 09 with 127,000 miles and just had everything replaced tensioners guides fazers chain and every now and then it will still rattle. Oil changes have always been done and by the way another problem they have is oil consumption. usually a qt between oil changes. I will be giving mine a new zip code first chance I get it has been a money pit. It reminds me of a boat. BRING OVER ANOTHER THOUSAND.

@Yankee1957 Yeah, it is not the VTC actuator ticks but a regular hollow "tong" especially during the first start of the day. It gradually gets better as it is driven. Also mostly noticeable in "Park" idle than "Neutral", and "Drive" when it is much quieter.

Is this what you're getting?
