Hey everyone,

My 2010 TSX recently rolled past 110,000 miles and I've noticed the steering and suspension aren't quite what they once were. The car floats a little bit in the lane and normal bumps and uneven roads are more noticeable now. I assume this is likely due to normal wear & tear based on its age and milage. I'm thinking about replacing the struts on all four corners and possibly the ball joints on the fronts. Before I do I wanted to see if anyone else has had similar issues with their TSX, and what repairs they made in order to fix them? Thanks

Welcome to the forum. Sounds like your compliance bushings are worn on your front lower control arms (LCA). I would check them to see if they have torn. This is common at a much lower mileage but the effects aren't apparent until they have deteriorated quite a bit.

If they are ripped/torn, I would suggest replacing the whole control arm instead of trying to replace all three bushings in the LCAs. Pressing in and out new bushings is very time and labor intensive with hand tools and will cost more than new arms if a shop does it.

I had the same issue at about 100,00 miles and once I replaced my bushings the oem feel and stability returned to my TSX.

Jack up the front of your car and the cracks in the compliance bushings will be easy to spot. This is my first Honda, so I had no idea those bushings are a common failure item around 100K miles. My car has ~95K miles, so you are definitely "in the window" with those bushings.

I recently replaced mine after they were caught during my annual state inspection. (Didn't fail inspection.) Not a complicated procedure, but you'll have to "wrestle" the LCAs back into position...lol

I did lower ball joints very close to that mileage. 152k now and my compliance bushings appear to be solid with minimal signs of cracking. Otherwise, I’ve been fortunate that I haven’t had to replace anything else considering I live in the Land Of Potholes ....ahem Lincoln.
