Hello All,
The button on the trunk will no longer open the trunk, but the remote button and the lever on the inside do open it. I have checked the glove compartment switch, and that is not the cause of the problem. I have read a lot of people mentioning wires falling apart that lead to the button, taillights and license plate light, and I really hope that isn't happening here :( has anyone had this problem and found a fix for it?
Thanks in advance.

I think he means the lock in glove box. I didn't know there was one...

Isn't the trunk lever connected to a tension wire? Does the lever feel totally slack? Or does it feel normal but nothing happens when you pull it?if its the former perhaps there is a disconnect - I would pop the lever off and have a look around.

1) Listen for the click when you press the trunk button. If you hear it then that means the button is fine.

2) Check your harness wires, if you have a test light, check the harness pins and see if they work accordingly.

3) Check under the glove box and flick the switch, this happened to me before, and it was the problem although I thought it wasnt.

So today I checked continuity of the trunk button on the trunk and the glove box, both checked out as FSM said they should. So now... not sure what to do. Once weather clears up (in about 6 months for us miserable Oregonians) I will have to tear the trunk apart and look for broken wires and such running through the hinge. I've had the car for a few years now with absolutely no problems, I guess it is just her time to start acting up!

Update! I tried the button again recently and it works! I believe that water somehow got into a connector or something and shorted it out, and only when it got drier did that water finally evaporate. Either that or HONDA MAGIC. Leaning more towards the magic.

I have a new Accord and my button on the trunk failed and I have only had the car 3 months. I took it to the dealership since it has warantee and they messed with it and said OH ITS WORKING FINE we messed with the valet key and it works great now. So I get home and try it and nope..... doesnt work! Period. WORSE than that is that later, in the middle of the night or while shopping at Target the friggin trunk will pop open~~~~~~~~~~ I am going to get it back to the dealership but they are not happy to look into the problem. They think its me~!
