You just resurrected a 9 year old thread.... But moving on.... If the engine is in that bad of shape, it may be more cost effective to just drop in a JDM longblock. They can be had for under $1000, and even if you are paying labor, shouldn't take more than 2 days to swap, where it will take several to put all those new parts on what appears to have been a neglected engine.
The funniest part was that I wondered if anyone was still around and would reply to the post. Thanks bro. I took a look at them JDM LB and its a maybe for me. Would save me time and money but was just HOPING the problem would turn out to be something minor. Now that Ive got fresh oil and filter in there is start easy but rough. Dies when I take my foot off accell. For now gonna take my chances with new plugs and coils and try to fit a new chain tensioner in there. One question I have for you is can the chain be replaced without pulling the engine out?
