Anybody point me to some wiring diagrams/pinpoint tests on this issue? I don't know what all this relay has going on downstream.

Sons car... Got stranded qith limp home mode.

Found only one code on the ecm, u0107, lost communication with tac module.

I found some other posts showing just swapping that relay fixed it, and it did... For half of his next trip to work.

I swapped another relay in, a Ford relay I had laying around that's physically taller, but same relay. (It's what I had). Both of these relays are running HOT. Which generally means something's pulling big current. I don't have the means to measure DC currant draw past 10A so I can't say what's actually being pulled, but I've never had a relay get hot before.

It's been running on the driveway for a couple hours and it hasn't failed, but considering the heat of it I figure it's just a matter of time.

There are quite a few threads on this but nobody ever seems to come back and say it's fixed.

Almost temped to wire in a 50A relay,...almost.

I so far have found the pinpoint tests for this issue, and I ordered a DC ammeter I should have tomorrow (thats more for curiosity and I wanted one for other uses anyway).

Parts for this car are expensive.

Needs to be gutted and megasquirted, dump all the VSA garbage..

Well I've been screwing with thing all afternoon.

I've never seen the currant draw from the relay exceed about 600mA. That's definitely no cause for concern.

I'm wondering now if my second relay failure was just a fluke.. I did initially take the relay from the seat heaters, which as a circuit, is completely fubard'd.

Anyways, I ordered a couple 30A relays in this style just fore their hopefully better robustness.

I also inspected and cleaned the TB. Seems fine.

I haven't been able to get this third relay to hiccup, though it still gets warm, which I can't explain. Must be the coil causing it? It's not cycling.(while running) For the record I'm seeing the relay surface temp hit ~120F with 60f ambient temps.doesnt make sense to me

I'll have him stay around town for the next couple days to see if it's happy again.
