So I've had my 1G (2007) for a couple years now and have regretted getting an auto instead of a manual since day one (got it so g/f can drive it) and I've been browsing the used car ads for ages half heartedly looking for another car (328i, A4, TSX, TLs).

Now a 2011 TSX in Vortex Blue (love that colour) has appeared for $27k CDN with a manual. I'm 99% sure I test drove this particular car 12 months ago when it first showed up at the dealer but it sat for 6 months at $32k before disappearing and now has reappeared for $5k less. It's an ex-lease with no accidents (I was originally told it was the Regional manager's car). I passed last time as $32k was more than I was willing to spend.

So...I'm very tempted this time as the price has gone done $5k and my finances are in great shape but...it seems a bit foolhardy to pay $10k (the gap between the value on my current car and this car) to mostly just get a manual.

I can afford a new 328i or A4 but don't want to do it since I only drive 2-3 times a week (I walk to work) so a new car is a real waste of money in my opinion thus this lightly used car seems like a good fit. Not buying new means no next TLX, A3, CLA etc too.

Q: For those who have upgraded to a 2G, what made you do it? Was the improvement worth it? What were the new features that you felt made it worth it?

thanks,

I think if I didn't have a car at all, I'd consider the 2G, but it sounds like a poor decision if you already have a 1G. I'd probably ride the 1G out until it was ready to sell and you'll have more money by then so you'd be open to a lot more cars.

Also, having driven a 2G rental, I think I prefer the 1G styling and nimbleness.

I have the 2G,and its an awesome car, great to drive, has best in class build quality and reliability, and is slightly more refined than the 1G.
I say go for it,as it sounds like a great opportinity, and that Blue is super sexy...

I have an 09 6-speed vortex blue tsx and my gf has an 06 auto tsx. The 09 is more quiet and I like the feel of it better. It's a little bit quicker. The steering is probably the biggest difference. It's easier to steer at low speeds and the ratio is different so it's a little more responsive. As far as if it's worth the $10k price difference that is hard to say. My gf's 06 is paid off so she is going to hold onto it for a little while before she gets a new one.
