I am debating on fabricating my own long tube J pipe that replaces the 2ndary cat as well to get as much length out of it.

1)So I know it will effect sound a bit, but I was debating on making it without that huge "u" bend for the bank near the firewall and making it more direct to the collector.

2) I'm thinking about not using the flex pipes but using a nice merge collector and using those springs to keep it together and well slip fit pipes. Or I also see some people use a nut and a bolt to keep the pipes slipped together.

What is the purpose? If it’s for power, I believe there was a an article out there where a tuner installed high flow cats (or test pipes) and a more free exhaust. Even with a tune, there wasn’t much power considering the expense of the mods and the conclusion was that HondAcura basically squeezed almost as much as they could give us with the 3.5

Good to know. I thought people were claiming good gains off the long J pipes. oh well, i'll just save my money and leave that alone then

I was curious if you had a link or knew where the info came from? I was looking at my exhaust the other day and it was crazy how at the middle to rear section the exhaust goes to a singe 2 inch pipe

I can’t find the exact article. This is a similar one but the pics are missing or the text was the only thing archived and they didn’t include the dyno numbers.

im almost exactly quoting the other article in saying Honda almost gave us everything the 3.5 is capable of.
Part of me wishes they made a j35 with a dohc vvt variant but the gains were probably not worth the extra cost and complexity.
