I think I f*cked up my valve adjustment but I just wanna double check here.

Cold start sounds okay but when it’s warm there’s a noticeable tap. Wasn’t there beforehand. Sort of sounds like the 5.7 hemi ticking if anyone is familiar.

Should I just redo them? I did on the loose end of the clearances so I’m thinking they’re way too loose when it’s warmed up. Still runs smooth, just has a tap.

If anyone can fact-check me, I did 0.008”-0.010” for intake and 0.010-0.011 for exhaust.

I guess I should have specified. I have an '09 but I did confirm through the service manual. I appreciate the response nonetheless.

The exhaust valves were considerably too loose. They're a bit of a pain to get at with the heat shield in the way so I must've approached them from a bad angle. The engine is buttery smooth now. It appears I may have pinched the valve cover gasket somewhere so I'll need to get that dealt with now... horrible oil smell but I've done about 60 miles and the level is still perfect. I suspect it's just weeping.

Ended up replacing it today. It was leaking a lot more than I originally thought. It soaked the exhaust headers and it was smoking pretty crazily. Still stinks but it probably will for a couple more days. It should stop leaking now...

I’ll be doing a valve adjustment as well on my 09 tsx before I do a kswap on my fit. Do you mind reaching out to me via IG or message for some advice.
Thank you

My best advice for doing valve adjustments on multiple types of cars is to always try to put one size bigger feeler gauge inand make sure it doesnt fit, Then go one size smaller and make sure it fits loose. Then use the size of the tightest spec and make sure you get a slight pull on the gauge. It took a while of doing that to get a good feel of quality feeler gauges.

Always check the valve cover gasket seating proper before torqueing down the bolts
