Valve Cover Tube Seals

Hey guys I'm replacing my valve cover gasket and doing the valve cover tube seals while I'm in there. My question is whether the new tube seals need to pushed in and bottomed out into the valve cover or are they just supposed to be flush with the edge of the holes?

Reading online for different honda and toyotas I'm getting different results. When I looked at my old seals it looked as if the seals were flush with the edge. But I'm wondering if that was due to swelling over time.

You can see on the inside of the tube that there is a lip where the seal can be bottomed out and pushed no further but Im just wondering if that is the right way to do it.

The spark plug tube seals should be inserted and pushed in until they bottom out with the metal lip of the valve cover. Follow this instruction unless your kit has other directions.

Thank you so much for you quick response. I’m right in the middle of the job now. Everything has gone well so far but I think I may have made a mistake here.

While tapping in one of the seals I missed a gouge on the metal and it seems have nicked one of the seals. Can I movie forward with this or is this serious enough to cause a failure?

The seal looks pinched more than cut but I just need to know if I can roll with it, or maybe apply a little RTV with a tooth pick right there
I'd probably squirt a little hond-bond in there right before I install it. Probably be fine.

Pull the coilpack to check it after a few hundred miles.

Over time it may weaken but Hondabond should do the trick over a certain amount of time. Definitely put it on your to do list over the next year.
