I get a whining noise while softly accelerating from 1500-2500 rpm. I only really notice it when i'm driving around parking lots, but it sure is annoying. My searching has people claiming it is a torque converter problem but there was never a real resolution on how to fix it.

Anybody have any experience with this? Is a TC covered under powertrain warranty?

Yeah a torque converter would be covered under powertrain warranty. I'm assuming you have an automatic TSX - this issue has been discussed in some old threads and it seems to pertain only to automatics. I have this sound too but it's something I just put up with, it's very subtle (for me) and not worth the hassle since I have no warranty. I just take it as normal operation of the transmission.

However I'm not sure how bad yours is, so I suppose you could try taking it in and having the mechanic give it a listen. It may or may not be the torque converter.
