That looks good. I just did the same to my silver TSX only I used vinyl wrap and debadged. Wrapping the windows both sides took about 2.5 hours, lets see how long the PD takes.

Plasti-dip is a great product for sure. Great job.

Thanks! Yea, I love that the plastidip isnt permanent. If it gets scuffed, just peel it off. And cheeeeap. Less than half a can did all door handles, grille, and badges. I just used painters tape and taped it off. Took maybe an hour to do all of it.

Im still deciding whether or not to keep the badges. I plan on smoking the tail lights and possibly head lights, so I figured the black badges would set it off pretty well. But we will see.

That's exactly what I want to do to my grill until I can get a new one. How's the overspray? Is the spray pattern wide, narrow, in other words when I go get the tape should I get a roll of paper too? Or is a couple rows of tape enough? Like = vs - I mean

I only used like 6 inches of tape. You get some overspray in places, but you just rub it with your hand or a towel and it's off. It sprays just like spray paint.

^^ Yep, just gave it a go, 1st coat is done already! Probably gonna do one more since I do a lot of highway driving and these bugs are crazy this year, just to have some thickness. I also have a can of glossifier, but I think I'm just gonna leave it matte, looks nice matte.

I actually have 4 cans of white too, I believe that by the end of this weekend I will have white wheels on my car lol.

When you peeled your tape did you outline the intended sprayed area with a razor blade first, or am I a screwup? I started peeling and it was all rubbery and peeled where it shouldn't have, so I just resprayed. Should I let it dry more than a half hour maybe? The only surface prep I did was to clean the whole area with Simple Green to get the bugs and wax off first, scuffing down the chrome with a Scotch Brite is not an option of course.

This is one issue with PD. It definitely needs to dry more than 30 minutes. Beyond that, you have to be very careful when removing, I've had the same thing happen, and that's why I don't use on on anything that requires precision, it can be very frustrating. I would think that if you cut it with a razor, the sticky edge might be compromised and it could peel.

For this reason I PD'd my emblems, but used vinyl tape on my silver trim. With the tape you can tuck it under and make it look very clean. I know there's other threads where people did PD their TSX trim and it came out good.

I would recommend more than 2 coats, 4 or 5 works better if you want it to hold up and be nice and thick.

IMO PD is best for something that you can remove, paint, and replace, like an emblem or grill. IT is very durable, I PD'd my grill on my last car and in 3 years it never tore or chipped.

I tried to touch up the spots with a Qtip, , I think I'll just do a 4th coat tomorrow for the sake of evenness. I wonder if I could have better edge results with a tape other than masking tape, maybe a "slipperier" tape over the masking tape. I'm pretty ADD when it comes to frustrating precision tasks.

It does look damn good though.

The only difference is that I did only one coat. If you get it too thick it won't peel away from the the car with out taking it off the emblem too. I mean, I have one coat on my door handles and it still good. And that's on something I touch everyday. I'd say only do one coat unless you are going to tape the hell out of it so none of it get on the car at all. My son ran a matchbox car across the grill *cringe* and it didn't scuff. So I don't see why one coat wouldn't be good enough. May not last as long, but time will tell.

i used a razor blade to cut because on the side i didnt, came out not as good as the other, too lazy to tape it up again but looks decent, and the reason you do more than one coat is to make sure u covered everything and make it stronger, when i spray i do up, down, angle left, angle right very lightly might i add, u shouldnt worry bout the 1st coat because the others will get what you missed

Too lazy right now to edit the iPhone pics with Camera+, but get the gist I hope. The Q Tip attempt was a massive fail, so I'm going to try to respray another coat on tomorrow, but I will also get pics after some highways driving on the NY Autobahn (Thruway) too, I gotta do about 100miles total on highways tomorrow.

I'm going to do the wheels with the index card method, hopefully either tomorrow or Saturday, curbed to hell TL 15 spokes, just my winter wheels but the may look good in white. I take pics of them too of course, if I remember I'll do before and after, a couple of them are really bad, I wonder if PD will magnify or camouflage the curbage? We shall see......

And yeah, I am planning on getting a hinged plate re locator and touching up the bumper, people in NY have no respect for other peoples property, especially when parking it seems.

cool, I have 4 full cans of white, and they're Chrome TL 15 spokes, it's not hugely deep problems, but I'll still do a before and after as soon as I do it, hectic weekend ahead, But I'll do my best. For science! lol . I'm guessing Simple Green should still go the trick to clean wax, brake dust, etc off before starting, unless someone has a better method?
