I have run across this show called, I guess, Top Gear. It's a British show, I assume. The reason I don't know much about it is that I've only seen clips that I've downloaded from the racingflix.com website. The clips are great. They feature several guys testing various sporty cars, from Honda S2000's and BMW M3's, up thru supercars like the Zonda. These clips are so well done that I would watch them review a Hyundai Accent and have fun doing it. They go far behond the shows I've seen here in the U.S. like Drivers Week or whatever that show is called.

If you haven't had a chance to check out the clips, and you enjoy watching reviews of sports cars, it's worth the $5 subscription fee.

Which leads me to my original question....does anyone know anything about this show? I would love to see it regularly (and I haven't said that about a TV show in a long long time!!). BBC America maybe?

OMG! Top Gear totally destroys any NA automotive TV show. They have the nerve to hammer both the Bentley Cont GT and M-B SLR. They test a Saab 9-5 against a Sea Harrier and even turn a regular car review (Subaru Legacy) into a complete diss of the English old money. My favourite quotes:

SL55: The sounds coming from this engine can hurt dogs.

SLR: The interior is plasticky - when you are _this_ rich, your life should be perfect! You shouldn't have plasticky anything in your life.

Noble M12: The car doesn't corner with rubber or suspension pieces, it corners with The Force. (star wars reference)

Carrera GT: The only thing wrong with this car are the people (the Germans) who make it.

Civic Type-R: If this car were in a porn movie, it would be the pool boy.

Crossfire: This car looks like a dog doing #2.

It's available on BBC World in Canada, dunno about the States.

Cool!!!

I'm glad someone is familiar with the show. Like I said, I've only seen some 3-4 minute clips of the show, mainly the car reviews specifically. How is the rest of the show? What do they cover? How often does it air? From what I've seen, it looks really good!

Thanks!

The rest of the show is as funny as the reviews:

- a news segment, where they diss upcoming cars

- a bit where they put a celebrity in a Suzuki Aerio and make him/her do hot laps around their track and rank their times against other celebs

- a "cool" wall where they rank cars seriously uncool - uncool - cool - subzero

And misc silliness like:

- trying to jump a Volvo 240 wagon over 10 RV's (didn't make it)

- trying to kill a Toyota trunk by leaving it on the beach in low tide, dropping an RV on it, then putting on the roof of a building to be demolished (couldn't kill it)

- running a Volvo diesel on vegetable oil (worked)

- driving a Jag off the bow of the HMS Invincible (splash!)

Sorry, I get it from a friend so I don't know about the schedule.

There's actually two websites:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/topgear/
http://www.topgear.com/

A magazine written in very much the same style:

I saw the clip. Just simply awesome. (Both the Toyota and the idea of doing it).

I think I saw a clip of it but was wondering where it had come from. Now I know.

Sounds like we're missing out on some good stuff.:bawling:

Top Gear is probably the best car program out there. Each week they drive the coolest cars. I just love the way they test drive the cars on the show, most of the time going sideways :D

The way they present it all makes it al lot of fun and they are not affraid to say what is wrong with a car.

And because I'm Dutch I also love the way they talk about the Germans :p :D
