Solution: turns out my ecu was bad, but was fixed for free by the dealer because of a pending recall, even got a free oil change.

This is strange because in your wall of text in the 1st post, you mention that you had already installed a used ECU.

Were both ECU's failing?

My car has this problem too and has this outstanding recall, but local dealer is not granting me an ecm replacement. So choked!

What OBDII scanner are you using? Will it communicate with the ECM? How much corrosion on the ECM circuit board?

I had an issue with my ECU also, but get this...my issues started literally 3 weeks after having taken my car to Acura for the recall. My prob was my car went into limp mode (wouldn't accelerate past like 15-20 mph). Had a U0107 DTC (lost communication with TAC module). It had me stumped for the longest time bc even tho all the diagnostic tests came out normal and a new TAC module didn't fix the issue, I thought it couldn't be the ECU since I'd literally just taken my car in for the recall.
Well once I saw the drivers side of the ECU I knew it had 2 be the prob! (I'd done all the testing on the connector side and that black plastic part right over the ECU was of course blocking my view of the drivers side. Check this out!!... View attachment 48217

Here's a pic of the PCB inside..2 leads on that square IC had completely disintegrated from corrosion/rust! View attachment 48218

The dealerships were only supposed to replace the ECUs if 1)no communication with scan tool or 2)P0606 DTC is pulled! Even if an ECU is eaten up with corrosion their instructions were to wipe the housing clean and put that worthless "cover" on! In my case they didn't even do that. The cover was just thrown in the hole where the ECU sits, not bolted on or anything! Shit you can even look at my 1st pic and see they did put the double sided tape on the ECU but it's not even on the correct edge. I bet they decided not 2bolt it on bc the bolts were so stuck with rust and corrosion it took me days of trying to ever get the thing out!!

I've looked online and at junk yards for ECUs for our car and its hard to find any that dont have corrosion (or at least noticeable areas on the housing where you can tell corrosion was there at one time).
I'm so pissed about the way Acura handled this (so-called) recall! Who knows how many customers were denied replacement ECUs when they honestly should have been covered under this recall!! It's madness!

Anyway, I figured out how to replace the original ECU with a used one without needing the dealership to reprogram the replacement ECU or buying the ignition& key along with it...as long as you can desolder/solder an 8 pin IC chip you can simply swap out the EEPROM. I did it and im a girl! Lol

Well that's a detailed story!

Why didn't you just take the TSX back to the dealer when you discovered that they had not replaced the ECU?

I guess the other thing to note is that we all have to check and confirm every time someone else works on our car.

For my case they kept saying they cant pull the p0606 code. So cant do the recall of ecu for me. But then my freaking ecu has “no communication”, and according to the bulletin, they should replace my ecu but they denied that.

Is so stupid man.

No manufacturer will honor a recall like this forever. These cars are getting really old.
Since the 2004-06 ECU's are readily available used and are cheap I wouldn't worry about it.
Hopefully the dealer didn't charge you to much to configure the VIN and immobolizer.

If you had a 2007-08 manual trans ECU that failed due to corrosion, then the discussion would be much different.
Those ECU's are extremely rare and pricey.
