TSX Slow to Rollover / Start !! FIXED July 18/09 !!
Hi All. New to the TSX scene, moved up from an '02 Civic Coupe to and '04 TSX with a little over 130,000 km. Pretty happy with the car so far, except for this little situation.
On cool to cold mornings, when starting the car, it's noticeably slower than my civic was to rollover. I've been finding that its common for K series to be a little slow to start, but mine likes to throw a CEL, which in turn causes the VSA to act up and the '!' and 'VSA' lights to come on as well.
I can turn it off and re-start it, and the '!' and 'VSA' lights clear, but the CEL remains.
The code it is throwing is:
P0341 Camshaft Position Sensor “A” Circuit Range/Performance (Bank 1 or Single Sensor)
A friend of mine works at Acura, and their records indicate it needed the O2 sensor replaced back in 2007. He has no record of it actually being replaced, and since the car came from a sketchy used car lot, I HIGHLY doubt they spent any money to fix/replace anything.
I've gotten some reply's on my local club forum that the camshaft position sensor code often shows up as a 'false' code, someone has even seen cars that don't have that sensor throw that code.....
My suspicion is that it is related to a bad O2 sensor.....
My gas mileage is fine, I can do 600+ KM to a tank.
My idle will fluctuate slightly sometimes if I'm sitting in it for a while....
I have changed to oil to 5W20 Castrol Syntec, and Replaced the stock battery to body ground and added 3 new ones (8GA amp wire).
Any thoughts??
Thanks! Vince
