Frozen Ice/snow in wheel well

Hey guys, as you have probably have seen on the news, the northeast is getting slammed with snow..probably like 20+ inches over the weekend. I noticed that there must be frozen snow/ice in my rims as when I got on the highway my car was shaking once it hit 50 miles an hour. Anyone know of any quick fixes or should I just allow it to hopefully melt away. I tried poking at it but its like solid ice. Can this hurt my car or maybe just throw off the alignment. Thanks.

I'd figure if you pour hot water of it it should soften it and start melting it away.

I just posted this topic on azine because my gf's 07 RDX experienced the same issue. I wasn't there so I was just posting based on what she said. She was going 60+mph on the highway after it had been completely cleared, prob 7/10 on clean scale, and she noticed an extremely violent shaking of the car and the steering wheel. We in Maryland just got hammered by snow too.

I thought it could've been a few issues.
1) Driving in the wrong gear by accident
2) E-Brake on
3) Power Steering
4) Balance and alignment seriously messed up
5) Snow packed in wheel wells

Turned out to be #5, and her local Acura dealership also suggested that immediately. I guess they've been taking loads of calls from Acura owners with similar issues.

I dont think this will hurt your alignment. Sometimes that snow just gets packed real solid in there. Just take it slow and keep clearing the wells. If you notice your car is pulling to the side in normal road conditions and without snow in the wells, then you might want to get it checked out.

have that all the time with my tsx... all I can really do was drive it off. It usually goes away with an hour driving or so.....

We got hit hard here in VA too, about 24+ inches and supposed to be another 10-20 inches coming today and tomorrow. My gf's X5 had the same issue to where we had to pull over on the side of the highway and knock it out, occurred mainly over 40 MPH. I used an ice scraper to get in there and get it out. Really all you can do is force it out or power wash it out as was said above. It's pretty annoying and feels dangerous when driving with it there but after a while it should clear out and you'll be fine.

We go a nice huuuge pile here in Ohio too

I always knock off as much as I can after every drive. I found that using the self-spray high pressure hose at the car wash works well. Just spray out the inside of the tire wells real good.

Yup, I've had this happen too! I was pretty amazed at what a little bit of ice can do with the tire balance(?)

I took a spoon and scraped it all off on the inside. I tried the self car wash, but it wasn't enough to blast it off.

Here in Wisconsin my TSX gets snow in the wheels and the wheel wells all the time during the winter.

I can't see how snow in the wheel well could cause the car to shake. I have snow packed in my wheel wells for days and there are no issues. It can sometimes make a noise when you're turning your wheel and the tire hits the snow in the well, and sometimes I worry the air intake on the driver's front well is covered, but I've never had it shake my wheels.

I could see how snow in the wheel itself could cause the car to shake, because you'd throw the wheel out of balance. In those cases, I'd just take it to a manual spray and wash and blow them out.

after i parked my car i a local garage, i saw this huge chunk of ice jutting out of the rear wheel well from the bumper side.

i guess all the snow/slush getting kicked up accumulates in that hollow area inside inside the bumper. i pulled out a chunk of ice that was about the size of a shoe from both sides. haha.
