KTUNER - somewhat disappointed

Hey all,

I recently purchased the KTUNER v1.2 to use on my 2010 2.4L Auto. I don’t have any other mods yet so I wasn’t expecting much but I got a good deal on it ($250) so I figured I’d try it out. Long story short, there’s absolutely zero noticeable difference. I’m only kind of upset because I didn’t think it would make a big difference, but it seems like neither of the tunes available change/do anything with fuel, ignition, redline, VTEC point, etc.

Is there anyone here running ktuner on a modded engine? I’m planning on getting a downpipe, mid pipe, and intake soon and I’m wondering if it’s worth just selling the tune if the gains aren’t gonna be noticeable. Either that or I’m going to try and learn how to optimize the VTEC point and cam timing.

I like mine just fine. But you have to know what you are doing with it. There is a lot of info on the net, and youtube as well. I'll advise you, playing with things in there you don't know what you are doing, well, you can (and probably will) blow it up. Tuning, no matter the software or car, do almost the same thing. Changing the viewpoint that they (engine) are glorified air pumps, will allow you to step from one brand into the next. You really want to get an idea of what it is in there you are looking at. And dont drop some file in there to "test" it out. Supporting mods are a plus!

I only used the base maps that the tune comes with, I don’t plan on using other files that people are selling or whatever. Will I actually have to tune it myself to make use of my supporting mods? The tune presets don’t do anything or what? Worst case I’ll learn it myself there’s a ton of good tutorials and it seems like MAF tuning as opposed to old school fuel map tuning is much easier and safer so I have no doubt I’ll be able to do it myself.

Cool beans.
Take your time with it, and you'll do just fine. save copies of what you are doing so if you make a mistake somewhere you can revert back to 'starting' points. the base map are kinda just that, Starting points. I have been thinking to pop one into the RDX, but it is a nice car as it is. maybe later down the road.
